Role Title: Mainframe Automation Engineer

Employment Type: Contract or Contract to Hire

Duration: 6 months to start, could extend or convert FTE

Preferred Location: Prefer candidates in New York, open to remote with occasional travel

Role Description:

Seeking a Mainframe Automation Engineer to help modernize and enhance automation across an enterprise mainframe environment. This individual will combine strong traditional mainframe automation experience with modern technologies such as Ansible, Python, and APIs.

The engineer will be responsible for supporting existing OPS/MVS automation while developing and integrating newer automation frameworks that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual processes, and provide long-term support for critical mainframe applications and infrastructure.

Candidates should be technically strong, hands-on, and capable of working independently within a complex enterprise environment.

Requirements:

Top Skill Sets Needed

-5-7+ years of relevant experience

-OPS/MVS Mainframe Automation

-Mainframe operations and automation expertise

-Experience developing and maintaining automation within z/OS environments

-Hands-on Ansible experience or similar automation tools

-Ability to integrate modern automation frameworks with mainframe environments

-Python & API Integration

-Ability to develop integrations that connect mainframe systems with modern automation and application environments

Preferred/Bonus Skills: GDPS knowledge, financial-services experience, and experience participating in enterprise mainframe modernization initiatives.
