Job Title: Amdocs Billing Architect / Telecom BSS Solution Architect

Location: Los Angeles, CA / Remote

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Amdocs Billing Architect with strong expertise in STMS billing platforms, telecom Business Support Systems (BSS), and billing transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in billing architecture, solution design, data migration, platform modernization, and end-to-end BSS transformation.

The role involves defining and governing scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable billing solutions aligned with business objectives, enterprise architecture standards, and technology roadmaps. The candidate will lead complex billing transformation programs, including legacy platform modernization, Amdocs upgrades, system consolidation, and migration between billing platforms.

Key Responsibilities

1. Telecom Billing Domain Expertise – Amdocs STMS

·       Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the Amdocs STMS billing data model, architecture, workflows, business processes, and functional capabilities.

·       Define and govern billing solutions covering rating, charging, invoicing, payments, taxation, billing adjustments, reconciliation, and revenue assurance.

·       Provide technical and functional leadership for Amdocs billing platforms, modules, integrations, and associated systems.

·       Analyze existing billing landscapes and recommend architecture improvements to enhance performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

·       Ensure billing solutions meet telecom business requirements, regulatory obligations, and enterprise architecture standards.

2. Billing Data Migration and Transformation

·       Lead end-to-end billing data migration initiatives between Amdocs STMS platforms and from third-party or legacy billing systems to Amdocs STMS.

·       Define migration architecture, data mapping, transformation rules, migration strategy, and reconciliation processes.

·       Establish data quality controls, validation frameworks, auditability, and business continuity measures throughout migration.

·       Oversee migration planning, mock conversions, testing, cutover, production deployment, and post-migration stabilization.

·       Identify migration risks and dependencies and develop mitigation strategies to ensure data integrity and minimal business disruption.

3. Billing Transformation and Modernization

·       Lead architecture initiatives involving legacy billing modernization, Amdocs platform upgrades, billing system consolidation, and end-to-end BSS transformation.

·       Define target-state billing architecture, transition architecture, and technology roadmaps.

·       Assess existing systems and identify opportunities for simplification, automation, performance optimization, and technical debt reduction.

·       Evaluate modernization approaches, including modular BSS architectures, cloud adoption, microservices, and event-driven integration, where applicable.

·       Ensure architectural decisions support scalability, flexibility, cost optimization, and future business growth.

4. BSS Consulting, Solution Design, and Governance

·       Define, own, and govern telecom billing capabilities and associated BSS business and technology domains.

·       Translate business requirements into functional architecture, solution blueprints, integration designs, and technical specifications.

·       Design scalable, resilient, secure, and maintainable billing solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles.

·       Lead architecture reviews, design governance, technical decision-making, and solution assurance across delivery teams.

·       Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering teams, vendors, and system integrators to ensure successful solution delivery.

·       Identify architecture risks, assess technical alternatives, and establish standards and design guidelines for billing implementations.

5. BSS Integration and Ecosystem Architecture

·       Design and govern end-to-end integrations across CRM, product catalog, order management, mediation, provisioning, payments, and downstream financial systems.

·       Define API-led, service-oriented, and event-driven integration patterns to support reliable data exchange across BSS and OSS ecosystems.

·       Ensure appropriate handling of transaction integrity, error management, idempotency, security, performance, and system interoperability.

·       Oversee integration architecture, interface specifications, dependency management, and non-functional requirements.

·       Support end-to-end business process orchestration across customer lifecycle, order-to-cash, and billing operations.

6. Enterprise Architecture and Industry Standards

·       Apply enterprise architecture principles, solution architecture patterns, distributed systems concepts, and API design best practices.

·       Leverage relevant TM Forum frameworks, including eTOM, SID, and TM Forum Open APIs, to support standardized telecom architecture.

·       Incorporate TM Forum Open Digital Architecture (ODA) concepts and component-based design into modular BSS modernization initiatives.

·       Evaluate cloud-native architectures, container platforms, microservices, and event-driven technologies based on business and technical requirements.

·       Maintain architecture documentation, design decisions, technology standards, and target-state roadmaps.

Required Skills and Qualifications

·       Overall IT experience with substantial experience in telecom BSS, Amdocs STMS billing platforms, and/or other telecom billing platforms.

·       Proven experience as a Telecom BSS Architect, Amdocs Billing Architect, Billing Solution Architect, Domain Architect, or in an equivalent senior architecture role.

·       In-depth knowledge of the Amdocs STMS billing data model, workflows, processes, modules, and capabilities.

·       Extensive experience in billing data migration between Amdocs STMS platforms and/or from other billing platforms to Amdocs STMS.

·       Strong experience with Amdocs billing solutions, STMS-related platforms, system components, and integrations.

·       Comprehensive understanding of rating, charging, invoicing, payments, taxation, billing adjustments, reconciliation, and revenue assurance.

·       Proven expertise in billing solution architecture, architecture governance, modernization, platform upgrades, and system consolidation.

·       Strong experience designing integrations across CRM, product catalog, order management, mediation, provisioning, payments, and financial systems.

·       Solid understanding of enterprise architecture principles, API design, application integration, distributed systems, and solution architecture patterns.

·       Experience with Amdocs product versions, billing modules, and solution components relevant to the target technology landscape.

·       Working knowledge of TM Forum frameworks, including eTOM, SID, and TM Forum Open APIs.

·       Exposure to TM Forum ODA, modular BSS architectures, and component-based modernization.

·       Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, microservices, containerization, and event-driven integration patterns, where applicable.

·       Excellent analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

·       Experience leading large-scale telecom billing transformation or migration programs.

·       Experience working with multi-vendor delivery teams and complex enterprise BSS landscapes.

·       Understanding of telecom revenue management, customer lifecycle management, and order-to-cash processes.

·       Experience with billing performance optimization, production stabilization, and operational excellence initiatives.

·       Relevant Amdocs, TM Forum, cloud, or enterprise architecture certifications.
