Job Description


We are seeking an IT Trainer and Content Developer to deliver technical training and author instructional materials for custom and COTS applications across the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This role involves conducting virtual classes via Microsoft Teams as well as traveling on-premise to regional district offices (including Gainesville and Tennille, GA) to train adult learners on desktop, web, and mobile software platforms.

  • Location: Various GDOT District/Area Offices within the State of Georgia
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Flexible mix of remote work, in-office days, and required on-site travel across Georgia; candidate must be local to Georgia/Atlanta Metro area)
  • Role Type: Contract (Through fiscal year-end, renewable annually based on performance/budget)

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Conduct engaging live virtual training and on-site classroom instruction for custom and commercial applications (~40 applications supporting transportation, construction inspection, and asset management).
  • Content Development: Author and update technical documentation, Quick Reference Guides (QRGs), user manuals, trainer guides, PowerPoint presentations, and computer-based training (CBT) modules.
  • Authoring Tool Utilization: Build interactive e-learning materials, video scripts, and storyboards using Articulate 360/Storyline, TechSmith Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, and Scribe.
  • LMS & Course Administration: Manage course schedules, process enrollments, grade assessments, track completions, and issue certifications within Oracle/Workday Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • District Travel & Coordination: Travel to GDOT District 1 (Gainesville), District 2 (Tennille), and other statewide locations several times per month to deliver in-person training and set up lab environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Microsoft Office / 365: 5+ years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office suite and M365 tools for content generation and presentation.
  • Technical Training & Support: 4+ years of hands-on experience delivering IT end-user training, desktop support, or technical application instruction.
  • Instructional Design & Content: Experience creating role-based end-user training documentation and training guides for complex IT software.
  • Statewide Travel: Valid driver's license, personal vehicle, and flexibility to travel to on-premise GDOT district offices several times per month.
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Teaching, or IT (or Associate’s + 2 years IT experience; or IT Certifications + 4 years IT experience).

Preferred Qualifications

  • E-Learning Authoring Tools: 2+ years of experience using Articulate 360/Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or TechSmith Camtasia.
  • Virtual Learning Platforms: 1+ years of experience conducting remote training sessions using Microsoft Teams.
  • LMS & ITSM Administration: Experience tracking course metrics in Oracle/Cornerstone LMS and familiarity with ServiceNow.
