Job Description

Senior Project Manager - Estates & Capital Projects
Construction Consultancy | Healthcare, Education & Public Sector
Location:

Manchester

Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 and full benefits package

The Opportunity

An established, privately owned construction consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to support the continued development of its project management services.

Working with an established portfolio of clients, including universities, healthcare organisations and other public-sector estates, the successful individual will take responsibility for delivering a varied programme of construction, refurbishment and capital investment projects.

This is an opportunity to join a respected consultancy with established client relationships, an interesting pipeline of projects and ambitions to develop its project management capability further.

The appointment will suit an accomplished Project Manager who enjoys the variety of working across different construction disciplines, developing strong client relationships and taking ownership of projects from initial feasibility through to completion.

The Role

The successful individual will manage a portfolio of capital projects across complex and frequently operational estates.
Projects will range from conventional construction and refurbishment schemes through to building infrastructure improvements, mechanical and electrical services upgrades and the modernisation of Building Management Systems (BMS).

An increasingly important element of the role will involve coordinating and managing specialist building services and BMS contractors, ensuring that technical installations are delivered successfully alongside wider construction programmes.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading construction, refurbishment and capital investment projects from inception through to completion and handover.
• Managing specialist consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Overseeing building services projects, including BMS installations, upgrades and modernisation programmes.
• Taking responsibility for project budgets, procurement, contractual administration, programme management and risk.
• Coordinating works within occupied and operational estates, ensuring disruption to essential services is carefully managed.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, estates teams and senior stakeholders.
• Providing professional project management advice and identifying opportunities to develop existing client relationships.
• Supporting and mentoring colleagues, contributing to the wider development of the consultancy's project management capability.

About You

We are interested in speaking with experienced Project Managers who have developed their careers within construction consultancies, client-side estates teams or other relevant project delivery environments.

You will have a strong understanding of construction project management, ideally gained through delivering capital projects within healthcare, higher education or other complex property estates.

Of particular interest will be candidates who can demonstrate:

• A successful track record of delivering construction, refurbishment and capital works projects.
• Experience coordinating mechanical and electrical building services contractors.
• An understanding of BMS projects and the ability to manage specialist technical contractors without necessarily being a BMS design or programming specialist.
• Strong commercial awareness, project governance and contract management capabilities.
• The confidence to advise clients, manage stakeholder expectations and establish lasting professional relationships.
• The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage several projects simultaneously.
• A relevant construction or property qualification, ideally supported by professional accreditation such as MRICS, MCIOB or APM membership.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

The attraction of this appointment extends beyond the delivery of individual construction projects.
You will be joining a privately owned consultancy where client relationships, professional judgement and quality of service remain central to its approach.

The role offers the opportunity to work across an interesting and varied portfolio of projects, build relationships with established institutional clients and contribute to the continued development of the project management function.

For an experienced Project Manager looking for greater responsibility, a broader range of projects and the opportunity to influence the direction of a
consultancy's services, this represents an attractive next career move.

Interested in Finding Out More?

For an initial confidential discussion about the consultancy, its client portfolio and the longer-term opportunities associated with this appointment, please contact Russell Taylor.

<br
