Network Engineer II
Location: Remote
Role Overview
We are seeking a project-focused Network Engineer II to support major network redesign, infrastructure modernization, and equipment deployment projects. This role requires an individual who can take ownership of network initiatives from initial design through implementation and completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong telecommunications background, advanced routing and switching expertise, and the ability to independently drive projects while collaborating with engineering and project management teams.
Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure with a focus on availability, scalability, redundancy, security, and performance.
• Lead and support network redesign, expansion, and equipment deployment projects.
• Serve as a project engineer for initiatives, owning technical delivery from planning through execution.
• Develop network solutions utilizing Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies across complex telecommunications environments.
• Perform capacity planning, bandwidth forecasting, hardware lifecycle planning, and software licensing management.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver projects on schedule.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and manage escalations.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers.
• Advocate for technical direction and operate with a high level of ownership and accountability.

Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: A minimum of four years of progressive network engineering experience within telecommunications, service provider, or ISP environments. Experience must include leading or contributing to moderate-to-complex infrastructure and networking projects, with an emphasis on project-based engineering, ownership, accountability, and end-to-end project delivery.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of carrier-grade network architecture and transport technologies. Expertise in Layer 2/Layer 3 networking, including IP, BGP, and ISIS. Experience with network hardware from vendors such as Nokia, Ciena, Adtran, Juniper, and Cisco.
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a telecommunications carrier or wholesale network engineering role.
• A background in owning projects from design through implementation, rather than focusing strictly on operational network support.
• Experience supporting network modernization, equipment replacement, and infrastructure deployment initiatives.
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, or Nokia NSR I/II.
