Senior Business Analyst – RBDMS / Mainframe Transformation

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a large-scale Mainframe Transformation Program involving the modernization of legacy applications, implementation of new software solutions, and development of data warehouse capabilities.

The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with RBDMS (Risk Based Data Management System) in the Oil & Gas regulatory domain, along with a strong background in business analysis, requirements gathering, technical documentation, and software implementation projects.

This position requires someone capable of working independently, collaborating with business and technical stakeholders, analyzing existing legacy systems, and translating business needs into functional and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead business analysis activities across multiple complex and interconnected technology projects, including SaaS and COTS application implementations, mainframe data migration, and data warehouse development.
• Gather, analyze, validate, and document business, functional, and technical requirements using various elicitation techniques.
• Reverse-engineer existing legacy systems to understand business rules, application functionality, workflows, and system dependencies.
• Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for improvement, modernization, and increased operational efficiency.
• Prepare and maintain detailed business requirements documents, functional specifications, use cases, process flows, data models, and requirements traceability documentation.
• Facilitate requirements workshops, stakeholder interviews, and collaborative working sessions with business users, technical teams, and cross-functional groups.
• Develop business process diagrams, system workflows, design documentation, and screen prototypes/mockups.
• Work closely with business and technical teams to translate business requirements into functional designs and technical specifications.
• Analyze production support issues, conduct root cause investigations, and document required system or data corrections.
• Support the preparation, execution, and validation of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test scenarios, test cases, and defect resolution.
• Provide guidance to business and functional teams during testing, training, deployment, and implementation activities.
• Ensure project documentation and deliverables follow established business analysis methodologies, quality standards, and organizational procedures.
• Maintain a strong understanding of business objectives, operational requirements, and the impact of technology changes on business processes.

Required Qualifications

• Hands-on experience as a Business Analyst on software development and technology implementation projects.
• Direct experience working with RBDMS (Risk Based Data Management System) in an Oil & Gas regulatory environment.
• Strong requirements elicitation, analysis, validation, and documentation experience.
• Experience with client and stakeholder management, including facilitating discussions with business and technical teams.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills, including requirements traceability, use cases, functional specifications, and data modeling.
• Experience facilitating interactive workshops and requirements-gathering sessions with business and cross-functional teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in assessing production support issues, identifying root causes, and documenting system or data corrections.
• Ability to develop functional design documents, technical specifications, and business process diagrams.
• Experience supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), training, and system implementation activities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and prototyping/screen mockup tools such as Visio, SnagIt, Adobe Illustrator, or Axure.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with mainframe environments and legacy technologies, including COBOL and SQL.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and application modernization initiatives.
• Experience with Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, SSIS, ETL processes, and Snowflake.
• Background in process improvement strategies and business process optimization.
• Experience leading change initiatives and designing more efficient business processes.
• Previous experience in the Oil & Gas industry, particularly regulatory compliance and enforcement-related projects.
• Ability to work effectively within complex, cross-functional teams and resolve challenging stakeholder situations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• CBAP, CCBA, or similar Business Analysis certification.
