Senior Developer Workspace Engineer
Location: McLean, Virginia (Onsite)
Role Overview
The Senior Developer Workspace Engineer is a hybrid role that combines software development, developer tooling, end-user technology expertise, and technical advocacy. The engineer will design, build, and support developer workspaces while improving onboarding, productivity, and the developer experience through automation, tooling, and best practices. We are seeking an individual with a strong combination of hands-on development expertise, end-user technology experience, and the ability to educate and influence other developers.
Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement developer workspaces using physical, virtualized, or browser-based solutions.
• Develop tools and automation primarily using Python and Java.
• Improve CI/CD processes through tooling and automation initiatives.
• Create desktop provisioning and software distribution patterns utilizing SCCM, VDI, or similar technologies.
• Support and drive adoption of developer productivity solutions across engineering teams.
• Partner with collaboration and end-user technology teams to improve developer experiences.
• Ensure solutions adhere to audit, risk, governance, and security requirements.
• Champion best practices and educate developers on tools and standards.

Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree or higher is preferred. Candidates without a bachelor's degree should demonstrate exceptional relevant experience.
Experience: Proven experience in software development and end-user technology support is required. Candidates must have experience influencing teams and driving the adoption of technical solutions.
Technical Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in Python and Java development.
• Strong understanding of software design principles and the ability to explain technical concepts to other developers.
• Experience with container creation, management, and administration.
• Knowledge of SCCM, VDI, or similar desktop provisioning technologies.
• Understanding of CI/CD process improvement and automation.
• Intermediate familiarity with JavaScript.
• Knowledge of cloud and on-premises networking concepts.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI/ML or Generative AI capabilities into developer workflows.
• Experience with developer productivity tooling and workspace automation.
• Knowledge of audit, risk, and governance practices.
• Experience supporting large enterprise engineering organizations.
