TxDOT has issued a request for a Project Manager with enterprise systems integration and SAP experience. This role supports their ITD’s Service Integration and Governance organization and involves enterprise systems integration, SAP-related environments, SDLC delivery, vendor accountability, project governance, executive reporting, and proactive management of schedules, risks, issues, and dependencies. The ideal candidate should have at least 7+ years of experience managing large technical projects, hands-on experience driving third-party integration efforts through acceptance and closure, and strong executive stakeholder communication, with Texas state agency experience and PMP/CBAP certification being highly preferred.

 

Project Manager

 

Expected Duration: 7 months / 1200 hours (10/1/26 – 5/1/27)

 

Location: Onsite-Candidates must be local to the Austin area

   

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Manage multiple complex IT projects, including scope, schedule, risks, issues, and project artifacts.
  • Coordinate enterprise systems integration across business, technical, SAP, and vendor teams.
  • Lead stakeholder communications, executive reporting, requirements, and vendor delivery through project closure.

 

Minimum Candidate Characteristics:

  • 7+ years managing large, complex IT projects and SDLC delivery.
  • 7+ years with project governance, risk management, requirements, and executive communications.
  • 5+ years implementing enterprise systems integration projects. 

 

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:

  • 4+ years supporting Texas state government agencies.
  • PMP and/or CBAP certification.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools and automation in project management. 

 

Project Manager

Responsibilities:

The Project Manager II is an Information Technology (IT) position that will manage components of highly complex and visible projects and/or program initiatives. This role will follow project management methodologies and governance processes to deliver work products on time and within a set budget. The role will also collaborate with the end-user and key stakeholders to provide status updates and gather requirements, with the vendor on their implementation and delivery of contract deliverables, and with the internal IT Team. The Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining and managing the timeline for multiple projects. Further, this individual will work to identify project risks and issues and proactively manage a plan to mitigate the risks and resolve the issues. The worker's responsibilities and skills must include:

  • Experience with general IT SDLC processes.
  • Experience with implementing Enterprise Systems Integration projects.
  • Experience with SAP.
  • Experience with mediating business units that may have conflicting requirements.
  • Experience driving systems integration delivery projects from 3rd party vendors to delivery acceptance and project closure.
  • Experience with preparing and presenting executive level project communications, project tracking and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to create and maintain several project artifacts including Project Timeline, Risk & Issue Log, Communication Plan, Stakeholder Register etc.
  • Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Responsible for project scope delivery adhering to and optimizing schedule, costs, and resources. Projects include TxDOT, partners, and third-party deliverables.
  • Acts as the counterpart for vendors program leader to ensure customer satisfaction and be the escalation point for service delivery activities.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a creative thinker to solve issues.
  • Must be hands-on-project manager for multiple projects.

Skilled in collaborating with the technical and functional teams to develop the Technical Specification and other documents need in support of the solution.

Ability to effectively integrate AI-assisted capabilities into project management practices while ensuring appropriate governance, security, quality, and human oversight.
