Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to modernize a critical business simulation application by converting legacy FORTRAN code to C++. The role involves software development, legacy code analysis, simulation model enhancement, data analysis, statistical modeling, testing, and close collaboration with business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have strong programming fundamentals, experience working with complex legacy applications, and the ability to analyze large datasets and connect technical results with business outcomes.

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field

Required Skills

  • Strong software development experience with C++
  • Experience understanding, maintaining, refactoring, and modernizing legacy codebases
  • Experience with code conversion / migration
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Understanding of programming concepts, development tools, and software engineering best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience analyzing large and complex datasets
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and business statistics
  • Experience with databases, query tools, and data extraction
  • Strong understanding of requirements analysis and requirements gathering
  • Ability to validate simulation outputs and investigate discrepancies

Key Responsibilities

  • Modernize a critical simulation application by converting legacy FORTRAN code to C++
  • Analyze, refactor, maintain, and enhance complex simulation models
  • Ensure functional consistency between the legacy and modernized applications
  • Work with business users to gather requirements and validate functionality
  • Perform testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and defect resolution
  • Analyze simulation outputs and investigate discrepancies
  • Support data gathering, data mining, and data processing across large datasets
  • Define analytical requirements and perform statistical analysis
  • Develop data-driven solutions using programming and analytical tools
  • Perform modeling related to parts demand, inventory, and supply chain performance
  • Develop and improve inventory optimization techniques
  • Execute inventory management simulations
  • Create reports and communicate analytical findings to stakeholders
  • Work closely with end users to ensure the modernized solution meets operational requirements
