On-site 4 days onsite in Woodbridge Township, NJ
Our client seeks a Lead Software Engineer to own and lead a critical enterprise application in the insurance domain. The role requires leadership, application ownership, and hands-on development across middleware, web services, and SQL Server. The engineer will design, develop, test, and support solutions, drive architectural decisions, and handle operational data requests, including large-scale SQL updates. The position is on-site four days per week in New Jersey and will require on-site interviews.

Rate: $72.00 to $80.00/hr. w2
Responsibilities:
  • Create and support business solutions by designing, coding, testing, debugging, configuring, and documenting products and projects for the insurance business.
  • Ensure requirement statements are complete, consistent, feasible, and unambiguous.
  • Collaborate across teams including business analysts, project managers, QA, data providers, and software vendors.
  • Communicate difficult or sensitive information to key stakeholders.
  • Provide input to project plans, estimates, and schedules.
  • Create and deliver organized presentations.
  • Design systems using established design methodologies and best practices with a focus on maintainability.
  • Analyze requirements and issues, recommend optimal solutions, and research and track problems to resolution.
  • Proactively identify and resolve quality issues to minimize defects.
  • Identify critical issues, suggest process improvements, and propose solutions.
  • Take initiative to diagnose production performance issues and implement corrective solutions.

Experience Requirements:
  • A minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
  • Expert-level SQL Server skills, including complex queries, large-scale data updates, data analysis, data mining, and performance tuning. Experience with DB2 and MS SQL Server.
  • Strong middleware and web services experience, including REST, SOAP, JMS, ESB (Mule), and service-layer architecture.
  • Full-stack development background with Java/J2EE 8+, Spring MVC, Angular v11+, TypeScript/JavaScript, CSS libraries such as Bootstrap and PrimeNG, JSON, MyBatis, XML, XSLT, Maven, JBOSS.
  • Ability to develop solutions that improve performance and scalability.
  • Nice to have: AWS experience such as Lambda, S3, and application development on AWS. Insurance industry experience and prior ownership of enterprise applications.
