  • Build trusted relationships with client teams through proactive communication, strong domain understanding, and reliable delivery.
  • Lead functional discovery sessions, workshops, backlog refinement sessions, and solution-design discussions.
  • Advise clients on D365 F&SCM standard capabilities, leading practices, process improvements, and solution trade-offs.
  • Own the functional direction of the engagement, ensuring solutions remain aligned with business priorities, project scope, and long-term supportability.
  • Communicate risks, dependencies, decisions, scope impacts, and recommendations clearly to both business and technical audiences.

Requirements, User Stories & Functional Design

  • Elicit, analyze, challenge, and elaborate business requirements with client stakeholders.
  • Convert business requirements into well-defined user stories, including acceptance criteria, business rules, process flows, assumptions, dependencies, and priority.
  • Facilitate backlog grooming and prioritization with client product owners and delivery teams.
  • Lead fit-gap analysis to determine whether requirements can be met through standard configuration, process changes, integrations, extensions, or custom development.
  • Produce high-quality functional design documentation, including process maps, functional design documents, configuration workbooks, data requirements, and test scenarios.
  • Ensure user stories and functional designs are complete, unambiguous, testable, and ready for development.

Techno-Functional Solution Design

  • Translate functional requirements and user stories into clear technical approaches for developers, integration teams, data teams, and solution architects.
  • Partner with technical leads to define solution designs for extensions, reports, workflows, integrations, security, data migration, and automation.
  • Provide functional input into Technical Design Documents, ensuring technical solutions meet business intent and are maintainable.
  • Evaluate and recommend the appropriate approach between standard configuration, extension, integration, reporting, Power Platform capability, or process redesign.
  • Collaborate on integration requirements involving APIs, OData, data entities, EDI, middleware, and third-party applications.
  • Support the definition of data migration requirements, including source-to-target mapping, data validation, reconciliation, and business sign-off.
  • Participate in design reviews and challenge solutions that create unnecessary customization, technical debt, performance risk, or support complexity.
  • Maintain awareness of D365 F&SCM architecture, extensibility principles, security roles, data entities, batch processing, and release-management considerations.

Delivery, Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Lead functional workstreams and coordinate activities across functional consultants, developers, testers, and client subject matter experts.
  • Support sprint planning, daily delivery coordination, backlog management, and functional issue resolution.
  • Review delivered functionality against user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional designs.
  • Define and support functional unit testing, system integration testing, user acceptance testing, regression testing, and defect triage.
  • Assist client stakeholders with UAT planning, test-script development, test execution, and sign-off.
  • Support deployment readiness, cutover planning, release communications, and post-deployment stabilization.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in business processes, solution design, team delivery practices, and client adoption.

Team Leadership & Engagement Management

  • Provide functional leadership, direction, mentoring, and quality oversight to functional team members.
  • Coordinate work across onshore, offshore, client, and partner resources as applicable.
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and client-focused delivery environment.
  • Support estimation, planning, resource coordination, and status reporting for functional workstreams.
  • Contribute to engagement governance by tracking functional deliverables, risks, decisions, issues, and dependencies.
  • Ensure documentation, knowledge transfer, and operational handover materials are complete and current.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Working with developers to explain business requirements and agree on the technical approach for enhancements or integrations.
  • Reviewing functional and technical designs to ensure they are aligned with D365 F&SCM leading practices.
  • Supporting sprint ceremonies, including planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Answering functional questions from development and testing teams throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Reviewing configuration, completed development, reports, interfaces, and workflows against expected business outcomes.
  • Leading defect triage sessions and prioritizing remediation activities with client and delivery teams.
  • Preparing client-facing status updates, decision logs, functional documentation, and delivery plans.
  • Mentoring functional consultants and reviewing their work products for quality and completeness.
  • Identifying risks, dependencies, scope changes, and opportunities to improve the solution or delivery approach.
