Infrastructure Engineer
MUST HAVE ACTIVE SC/DV CLEARANCE
£550–£600 per day | Inside IR35 | 12-Month Contract | London – Full-Time On Site
I'm currently working with a leading global IT services and technology consultancy on an exciting Infrastructure Engineer opportunity, supporting a highly secure UK public sector organisation operating within the national security sector.

IMPORTANT – ACTIVE SECURITY CLEARANCE IS ESSENTIAL
Candidates must already hold active SC or DV security clearance to be considered. If you do not currently hold active SC or DV clearance, you will not be eligible for this opportunity. Candidates holding active SC clearance will be supported with an uplift to DV once in post.
The Opportunity
The organisation is looking for a strong all-round Infrastructure Engineer with solid foundations across enterprise infrastructure and systems engineering.
You'll be working across a varied technology environment, covering virtualisation, Windows and Linux infrastructure, networking, storage, backup and disaster recovery. Alongside these traditional infrastructure technologies, there is also an interest in engineers who bring exposure to modern cloud platforms, automation, containerisation and Infrastructure as Code.
This isn't a role where you need to tick every technology box. The priority is finding someone with strong infrastructure fundamentals, good technical breadth and depth, and the ability to work across different areas of an enterprise environment.
Key Technologies
Virtualisation & Cloud
  • VMware vSphere, VCF, vSAN, SRM and Aria.
  • VMware platform administration and engineering.
  • Azure and cloud infrastructure.
Networking & Security
  • NSX, Palo Alto and Fortinet.
  • Dell switching, BGP and routing.
  • Firewall management and network infrastructure.
Windows & Systems Administration
  • Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
  • PKI, clustering, Remote Desktop Services and SQL infrastructure.
Linux & Automation
  • Ubuntu and Linux administration, repository management and hardening.
  • Ansible / AWX and Puppet.
  • PowerShell, PowerCLI and Infrastructure as Code.
End User Computing
  • Omnissa Horizon and Workspace ONE.
  • MECM / SCCM and gold image management.
Storage, Backup & Recovery
  • Dell PowerScale and Superna Eyeglass.
  • Veeam and enterprise backup solutions.
  • Disaster recovery, resilience and recovery planning.
Essential Requirements
  • Active SC or DV security clearance – mandatory. No exceptions.
  • Candidates without existing active SC or DV clearance will not be considered.
  • Strong experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Systems Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Broad understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience across a combination of Windows, Linux, virtualisation, networking, storage or backup technologies.
  • Ability to work full-time on site in London.
Contract Details
  • Day Rate: £550–£600 per day.
  • IR35: Inside IR35.
  • Duration: 12 months initial contract.
  • Location: London.
  • Working Arrangement: Full-time on site.
  • Clearance: Active SC or DV mandatory. SC holders will be supported with an uplift to DV once in post.
