Sr IT Project Manager

Job Description

NJ Transit is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to lead large-scale technology and infrastructure projects supporting transit-related capital construction initiatives. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing multiple projects involving IT infrastructure, communications systems, network technologies, and related construction activities.

The selected candidate will work closely with engineering teams, technical subject matter experts, vendors, consultants, and business stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery from initiation through implementation and closeout.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple concurrent IT infrastructure and capital projects.
• Coordinate technical design reviews for network, communications, electrical, and technology systems.
• Review project documentation, including network diagrams, drawings, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, and schedules.
• Facilitate collaboration between engineering teams, IT teams, vendors, consultants, and business stakeholders.
• Coordinate project implementation activities and operational support requirements.
• Lead project planning, requirements gathering, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management activities.
• Track project risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation plans.
• Conduct project meetings and provide status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to business requirements.
• Serve as the primary liaison between sponsors, stakeholders, project teams, and vendors.
• Administer and support PPM tools, including user access, governance processes, training, and project intake workflows.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience managing large and complex technology or infrastructure projects.
• Strong experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools such as Planview, Clarity, HP PPM, or similar solutions.
• Experience with construction documentation review processes and project coordination.
• Experience reviewing network diagrams, specifications, shop drawings, schedules, and RFIs.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visio.
• Experience with AutoCAD and CSI-format construction documents.
• Experience managing project delivery within staffing, budget, and resource constraints.
• Strong stakeholder management and vendor coordination experience.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong experience in risk management and issue resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with transportation, transit, or capital construction projects.
• Familiarity with NJDCA permitting processes.
• Experience supporting network infrastructure, data center, communications, or electrical technology projects.
• PMP Certification or equivalent project management certification.
• RCDD Certification.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Required Skills

• 10+ years of Project Management experience leading large, complex projects.
• 10+ years of experience with Planview, Clarity, HP PPM, or similar PPM tools.
• 10+ years of experience using Microsoft Office and Visio.
• 10+ years of experience with construction documentation and plan review processes.
• 10+ years of experience reviewing AutoCAD and CSI-format documents.
• 10+ years of experience managing stakeholder, vendor, and executive communications.
• 10+ years of experience in resource planning, budgeting, and project delivery oversight.
