Job Description

Job Title: Epic EHR Systems Administrator / Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Location: REMOTE

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Epic EHR Systems Administrator to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Electronic Health Records (EHR) ecosystem. In this role, you will lead the administration, configuration, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of our Epic environment. You will bridge the gap between technical operations and clinical/operational workflows, ensuring system integrity, efficiency, and peak user performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end administration, routine maintenance, configuration, and user permission management across Epic applications.

  • Serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Epic workflows, system capabilities, and troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with clinical, technical, and operational teams to gather requirements and translate them into optimized EHR configurations.

  • Perform regular system audits, performance monitoring, updates, and release management.

  • Design, build, and test system workflows, templates, and reporting dashboards to improve clinical efficiency.

  • Provide escalation support for high-priority system issues, root-cause analysis, and end-user training.

Required Qualifications:

  • Epic Certification: Active Epic certification(s) in relevant modules (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory/Inpatient, Cadence, Prelude, or System Administration).

  • Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in Epic EHR system administration and workflow configuration.

  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of clinical/healthcare operations, EHR data architecture, and regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA).

  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Epic build tools, environment management, and system integrations (HL7, APIs).

  • Skills: Excellent analytical problem-solving, project management, and communication skills with the ability to act as a core liaison across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
