The Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting for a nationally recognized, employee-owned power engineering firm seeking seasoned Substation Engineers to help modernize the grid. The client’s portfolio spans high-voltage substations, renewables integration, HVDC transmission, battery energy storage (BESS), and other next-generation infrastructure. With nine openings across Houston, Dallas, Austin, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Minneapolis, Kansas City, and Chattanooga, this role offers a chance to shape critical energy assets while growing into technical and client-facing leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Engineer complete design deliverables, including schematics, layout drawings, relay panel wiring, grounding grids, and station auxiliary power systems.
  • Champion design quality by conducting rigorous QA/QC checks on drawing packages before release.
  • Mentor early-career engineers while steering project outputs to on-time, on-spec completion.
  • Collaborate with clients, equipment vendors, and internal project teams to uphold the highest technical standards.
  • Build budgets, schedules, and technical specifications that guide procurement and construction.
  • Drive growth by shaping proposals and presenting designs directly to clients.

What You Bring

  • 5 to 20 years of hands-on High-Voltage Substation Design experience in Physical Design, Protection & Controls (P&C), or both.
  • A track record of leading projects or serving as a go-to technical specialist.
  • Demonstrated strength in QA/QC review and client-facing coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in Bluebeam Revu and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • English fluency and authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

Compensation & Total Rewards

  • Base salary of $130,000 to $228,000 per year
  • Bonus eligibility
  • A stake in the firm’s success through its employee-ownership model
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Hybrid schedule flexibility once the initial 90 days are complete
  • Paid relocation
  • Full-time, direct-hire employment
