Sr. Java Developer (Java/Spring/AWS)

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Sr. Java Developer (Java/Spring/AWS) for a contract assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY.
Responsibilities :

• Design, build, configure, and improve applications, databases, test automation, and DevOps processes.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and turn them into scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Follow approved SDLC/PDLC methods and write thorough design documentation.
• Write secure code and perform unit, integration, and functional testing.
• Review peers' code against engineering standards and design patterns.
• Partner with product teams, help drive adoption, and solve complex technical issues.
• Provide on-call support, troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and handle service requests.
• Work independently as a senior technical expert and communicate clearly with stakeholders.

Required Skills:

• Core requirements
  • 10 + years of experience working with Java (Currently using 8+) in an highly regulated industry
  • Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Integration, and Spring Security.
  • REST APIs and JSON.
  • Strong skills in Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL and Shell Scripting
  • Secure coding and application security.
  • Unit, integration, and functional testing, Software design, debugging, and peer review.
  • Strong AWS experience
  • WebSphere Application Server or Liberty and IBM MQ.

Preferred Skills:

• Front-end technologies such as Angular, HTML5, and CSS3.
• SQL, Oracle, and data modeling.
• CI/CD and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, and GitLab.
• NgRx, RxJS, Connect:Direct, Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
• Functional Knowledge Preferences:
  • PDLC/SDLC
  • CI/CD, DevOps, Data Modeling
  • Agentic AI, Claude Code Technical Skills
  • SQL, Oracle
  • Jenkins, GitHub, GitLab
