About the Job Role
The role is responsible for managing Accounts Receivable (AR) collections for E-commerce and Marketplace channels, ensuring timely realization of receivables, effective deduction management, dispute resolution, and working capital optimization. The incumbent will partner closely with E-commerce, Sales, Commercial, and Finance teams to drive collection efficiency, improve cash flow, minimize revenue leakages, and strengthen financial controls across key marketplace accounts.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Working Capital Management & Cash Flow Optimization
- Drive working capital improvement initiatives through effective receivables management and collection strategies.
- Analyze customer payment patterns, aging trends, collection efficiencies, and outstanding receivables to identify opportunities for cash flow improvement.
- Monitor overdue balances and implement corrective actions to reduce DSO (Days Sales Outstanding).
- Identify revenue leakages, deduction trends, and recovery opportunities to support profitability enhancement.
- Collaborate with Commercial, Sales, and Finance teams to improve collection performance and working capital metrics.
2. E-commerce Accounts Receivable & Collection Management
- Manage collections from E-commerce customers, marketplaces, and online business partners in line with monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
- Monitor customer-wise outstanding balances and proactively follow up for timely realization of payments.
- Perform receivables reconciliation against remittances, deductions, claims, returns, and settlements.
- Extract, analyze, and validate transactional data from SAP and other financial systems to identify short payments, pricing discrepancies, and recoverable deductions.
- Ensure timely closure of overdue invoices, collection escalations, and disputed receivables.
- Prepare collection forecasts, aging reports, collection dashboards, and management MIS.
- Track high-risk accounts and drive focused collection actions to minimize credit risk exposure.
3. Deduction Management, Credit Notes & Debit Notes Processing
- Review and validate customer deductions related to trade promotions, discounts, pricing variances, returns, logistics claims, and commercial schemes.
- Process Credit Notes (CN) and Debit Notes (DN) accurately and within defined turnaround timelines.
- Manage customer adjustments through ERP, SAP, and DMS platforms.
- Reconcile deductions with approved commercial agreements and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
- Drive recovery of invalid deductions through negotiations and dispute resolution.
- Minimize deduction leakages and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
4. Process Compliance, Controls & Governance
- Ensure adherence to finance policies, SOPs, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Support automation and process-improvement initiatives across receivable tracking, provision management, balance confirmations, and credit note processing.
- Maintain customer master records and credit control data accurately.
- Perform periodic General Ledger (GL) reconciliations for receivables, discounts, returns, provisions, and deduction-related accounts.
- Support month-end and year-end financial closures through accurate provisioning and receivable reporting.
- Facilitate audit requirements and ensure compliance with internal and external control frameworks.
- Continuously identify opportunities to enhance process efficiency, accuracy, and governance.
5. Customer Reconciliation & Dispute Resolution
- Conduct periodic customer account reconciliations and obtain balance confirmations.
- Investigate and resolve invoice disputes, deductions, claim mismatches, short payments, unapplied receipts, and outstanding exceptions.
- Coordinate with E-commerce teams, Sales, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Finance stakeholders for issue resolution.
- Monitor customer advances, deposits, disputed balances, and unapplied cash for timely settlement.
- Ensure prompt resolution of claims related to rebates, returns, pricing differences, discounts, and promotional schemes.
6. Business Partnering & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with E-commerce Business Teams, Key Account Managers, Sales, and Finance stakeholders to support revenue realization and working capital objectives.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for AR-related collection and commercial issues for assigned customers.
- Provide actionable insights on customer payment behavior, deduction patterns, credit exposures, and collection risks.
- Build strong relationships with marketplace partners and customers to facilitate faster collections and dispute closures.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve collection targets and improve overall AR performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- MBA (Finance) / CA Inter / CMA Inter will be preferred.
- 2-6 years of experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, Commercial Finance, Revenue Accounting, or E-commerce Finance.
- Experience in Retail, Fashion, Lifestyle, FMCG, Consumer Products, or E-commerce organizations is preferred.
- Exposure to marketplace customers such as Myntra, Amazon, Flipkart, AJIO, Nykaa Fashion, Tata Cliq, etc., will be an added advantage.
