Job Description

About Us

Our Philosophy at humm group is to deliver creative and tailored financial solutions to our customers around the globe. We are determined to be different and to disrupt the model of traditional lending. At humm group, we enable and empower our people to build lifetime relationships of value and opportunity for the benefit of you, our colleagues, customers and shareholders.

About the Team

You will join a collaborative Data Platform team led by the Data Platform Lead, comprising five Data Engineers and a DBA supporting both operational and strategic initiatives across the organisation's data landscape.

The team is responsible for the reliability and evolution of the organisation's data platforms, covering both the existing data platform estate and the modern cloud based data platform.

We support critical business functions across reporting, analytics, operations, finance, and product teams while driving long term modernisation and simplification initiatives.

As a senior member of the team, you will be expected to provide technical leadership, contribute to platform strategy, and help drive the successful transition toward a simplified, modern data ecosystem.

About the Role

This role sits at the centre of one of the most significant transformations within our technology landscape.

You will help shape how the organisation moves from a complex mix of existing platforms to a streamlined modern data platform by identifying opportunities to retire, consolidate, archive, replace, or modernise business capabilities. Not every capability requires migration, and a key part of the role is determining the most appropriate path forward and then driving its execution.

This is a unique opportunity to influence platform strategy while remaining hands on with engineering, stakeholder engagement, operational excellence, and delivery.

As the organisation matures, this role will increasingly contribute to the enablement of advanced analytics, AI and machine learning use cases by building data products, pipelines and lineage that support model development, training, monitoring and explainability.

What Does An Average Day Look Like?
  • Drive Platform Transformation & Simplification
  • Assess and analyse existing data platforms, integrations, reports, data assets, and operational processes.
  • Identify appropriate decommissioning, consolidation, archival, replacement, or modernisation opportunities.
  • Partner with stakeholders to determine the future state of business capabilities and data assets.
  • Contribute to the simplification and rationalisation of the organisation's data platform estate.
Operate Across Existing and Modern Data Platforms
  • Support, stabilise, and enhance existing data warehouse platforms and services.
  • Design and build data solutions using Snowflake, dbt, and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Help transition business capabilities to the modern data platform where appropriate.
  • Balance business continuity with ongoing platform transformation objectives.
  • Work across both current and future state architectures to support the organisation's journey toward a fully modern data platform.
Collaborate with Internal Teams and Delivery Partners
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and implementation partners to deliver outcomes.
  • Understand business requirements, impacts, dependencies, and technical constraints.
  • Translate technical solutions into practical business outcomes.
  • Build trusted and reliable data products through ownership, transparency, and delivery.
  • Contribute to the successful evolution of a scalable, cloud based modern data platform.
  • Governance & Security: Implement best practices for data governance, security, and access control in a cloud based environment applying inline testing to your solutions aligning with and helping develop our data standards and controls.
About you
  • Experience working with SQL Server-based data warehouse environments in production.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate complex systems, analyse dependencies, and solve technical challenges.
  • Experience supporting business critical data platforms with a focus on reliability, stability, and operational excellence.
  • Hands on experience with a modern data platform such as Snowflake, including data modelling, performance tuning, and optimisation.
  • Strong expertise in Azure Data Factory and other tools for building data pipelines.
  • Experience with AWS storage solutions (S3, Glue, or related services).
  • Proficiency in DBT Cloud for data transformation and lineage tracking.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with Python or other scripting languages for automation.
  • Familiarity with financial services, finance marketing data, digital, customer analytics, or campaign performance tracking is a plus.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance best practices.
  • Ability to work in an agile environment, collaborating with cross functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Experience working across traditional data warehouse platform and modern data platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data & Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant industry certifications in Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, AWS, Data Engineering, Qlik Replica or Cloud Technologies are advantageous but not required.
  • Equivalent practical experience will be valued alongside formal qualifications.
  • Knowledge of orchestration tools and CI/CD pipelines for data deployment.
  • Preferred exposure to, or interest in, supporting AI/ML workloads (e.g. feature stores, model inputs/outputs, automated lineage, data quality for models) as data platforms evolve toward more advanced decisioning and automation.
