Job Description

Title Senior Network Administrator 
Location: Onsite in Ft. Meade, MD 5 days a week
Duration: 6 months contract to hire 
Clearance: Must be able to obtain & maintain Active TS/SCI (SCI needs to be active in the last 2 years)

Shift: 5am-1pm  or/ 11am-7pm

Key skills: Candidates that are supporting enterprise network environments. This role will be responsible for network infrastructure administration, firewall configuration and troubleshooting, hardware configuration management, and Linux-based systems support. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls, network troubleshooting, and systems administration within complex environments. CCNA certification is also a requirement for this role.

Travel Requirements/Off hours Expectations

  • Up to 10% travel, including occasional visits to customer or operational sites across the United States.
  • Additional travel may be required during critical network or power outage events, though occurrences are infrequent.
  • Expect off hours up to 1x per month for maintenance and upgrades. The candidate will be on a rotation for this.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure and connected hardware devices.
  • Perform configuration management activities for network and infrastructure hardware.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize network connectivity, performance, and security.
  • Configure, deploy, and support Palo Alto firewalls, including firewall policy management, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Support initiatives to enable remote service capabilities through firewall technologies and security solutions.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure components and security appliances.
  • Provide Linux systems administration support utilizing command-line tools and scripting.
  • Assist with the deployment, administration, and future expansion of Trellix server environments.
  • Participate in network hardware installation and infrastructure refresh projects.
  • Respond to and resolve network outages, connectivity issues, and infrastructure incidents.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure secure and reliable network performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and configuration records.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of overall experience and a Bachelors degree. Other level of degrees will be accepted with correlating years of experience. + CCNA certification
  • Sec+ certification or other DoD 8140 certification
  • Hands-on experience administering and troubleshooting enterprise firewall environments.
  • Experience configuring and supporting Palo Alto Firewalls.
