job summary:

The Ground Handler Jr. Lead is a hands-on operational position responsible for safely supporting daily drone-delivery operations, maintaining the readiness of the Nest, aircraft, and associated equipment, tracking operational metrics, and providing peer training support.

Working closely with the Ground Handler Lead and City Manager, the Jr. Lead assists with frontline coordination, computer metrics monitoring, guiding loaders, and coaching associates. During peak demand periods, the Ground Handler Jr. Lead actively supports Tier 1 associates in picking, packing, and loading customer orders.

Key Responsibilities

Ground Handler and Drone Operations

Complete all required Ground Handler training and maintain qualification to perform Ground Handler duties.

Safely set up the Nest at the beginning of the operating day.

Position and prepare aircraft and associated equipment in accordance with approved procedures.

Complete required opening, mid-shift, and closing safety checks.

Immediately report aircraft, equipment, or Nest-related concerns.

Verify that the Nest and designated operating areas are safe, organized, and ready for flight operations.

Prepare, stage, verify, and load customer orders for drone delivery.

Confirm that packages meet applicable loading, size, weight, and preparation requirements.

Follow all approved safety requirements and standard operating procedures.

Monitor the Nest and surrounding operational area for aircraft activity, customers, vehicles, pedestrians, weather concerns, and other potential hazards.

Maintain situational awareness and immediately communicate conditions that could affect safe operations.

Communicate with client operational teams using approved radios, systems, and communication channels.

Respond promptly to aircraft activity, order updates, operational instructions, and safety-related communications.

Report safety concerns, aircraft or equipment problems, order issues, and operational interruptions immediately.

Maintain a clean, organized, properly supplied, and operationally ready Nest throughout the shift.

Safely secure and put away aircraft and associated equipment at the end of the operating day.

Confirm that the Nest is properly organized and secured at the end of the shift.

Data Metrics Tracking & Daily Loader Guidance

Use computer software and mobile terminals to track real-time order metrics, SLA status, and staging flow.

Assist the Lead in guiding Pick/Pack Loaders on immediate daily priorities based on live data metrics.

Help log daily site operational metrics, equipment checks, and shift updates.

Loader Training & SOP Support

Assist the Ground Handler Lead in imparting practical onboarding and peer training to Pick/Pack Loaders.

Provide immediate peer coaching when associates need assistance with procedures or equipment.

Provide feedback to the Lead and customer support teams regarding frontline SOP clarity and execution.

Junior-Lead Responsibilities

Provide frontline support and operational direction to Tier 1 associates.

Help ensure Tier 1 associates are present, properly dressed, equipped, and ready to work.

Assist the Ground Handler Lead with assigning and rotating Tier 1 associates among operational positions based on workflow data.

Monitor radio responsiveness, employee readiness, and compliance with established procedures.

Help coordinate breaks while maintaining required site coverage.

Provide immediate coaching and procedural clarification when associates need assistance.

Communicate daily priorities, procedural changes, and client expectations to Tier 1 associates.

Report attendance issues, staffing gaps, safety concerns, performance issues, and operational barriers to the Ground Handler Lead or City Manager.

Assist with attendance reporting, shift updates, operational logs, and leadership handoffs when requested.

Serve as an additional onsite point of contact when the Ground Handler Lead is temporarily unavailable.

Escalate decisions outside the Jr. Lead's authority to the Ground Handler Lead or City Manager.

Leadership Authority

The Ground Handler Jr. Lead may:

Provide routine operational direction to Tier 1 associates.

Reinforce established safety requirements and operating procedures.

Provide immediate coaching and procedural clarification based on data and SOPs.

Assist with position rotations and break coordination.

Report and document operational, attendance, safety, and performance concerns.

qualifications:

Qualifications

Experience in Drone Operations ( Part 107 Certification Added advantage)

Basic computer and digital literacy to track operational metrics and navigate software platforms.

Ability to assist with training frontline associates and guiding team members on correct course actions.

Previous experience in delivery operations, fulfillment, retail, logistics, aviation support, or a similar environment is preferred.

Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, professionalism, and sound judgment.

Ability to complete and maintain all required Ground Handler and safety training.

Ability to follow and reinforce detailed safety and operational procedures.

Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to provide respectful peer guidance and clear operational direction.

Ability to use radios, mobile devices, computer systems, operational applications, and reporting tools.

Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and changing operational schedules.
