Job Description

We are seeking the very best technical talent - exceptional individuals who have distinguished themselves among the highest achievers in their academic programs or, through their professional careers, have demonstrated extraordinary intellectual capacity, technical excellence, and accomplishment.

About the Opportunity

StaffRight Associates is recruiting to identify exceptional systems engineering talent for a New York–based organization developing advanced computational technologies for drug discovery and computational biochemistry.

This is not a conventional systems administration role.

You will work at the infrastructure frontier—building, operating, and evolving computing environments that support advanced machine learning, molecular simulation, and scientific research at extraordinary scale.

The environment includes Kubernetes-powered agentic workflows, GPU clusters containing hundreds of GPUs, high-performance RDMA networks, Linux clusters spanning thousands to tens of thousands of CPU cores, tens of petabytes of storage, and massively parallel custom supercomputers.

The challenge is making this extraordinary infrastructure fast, reliable, scalable, secure, and accessible to researchers and AI agents.

What You'll Do:

  • Engineer at Scale: Develop and manage infrastructure supporting massive CPU/GPU computing environments, distributed systems, storage, networking, and specialized computational platforms.
  • Build Agentic Infrastructure: Support Kubernetes-based systems and workflows that enable machine learning agents and researchers to interact with large-scale computational resources.
  • Optimize Performance: Identify bottlenecks across compute, networking, storage, and distributed workloads and engineer solutions that improve performance and reliability.
  • Engineer HPC Systems: Work with Linux clusters, high-performance computing environments, RDMA fabrics, and massively parallel systems.
  • Develop Systems Software: Build automation, tooling, and distributed systems using programming and scripting technologies such as Python.
  • Enable Scientific Computing: Make sophisticated computational infrastructure available to researchers in a secure, reliable, and convenient manner.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with systems engineers, software developers, machine learning researchers, computational scientists, and other highly technical professionals.

What We're Recruiting For:

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, versatility, and a demonstrated record of achievement.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Linux systems engineering or large-scale systems administration
  • High-performance computing (HPC)
  • Kubernetes systems engineering
  • Distributed systems
  • GPU computing and AI infrastructure
  • High-performance networking / RDMA
  • Data-parallel computing
  • Systems software development
  • Python or other systems programming
  • Large-scale storage infrastructure
  • Supercomputing environments
  • Cluster architecture and management

A strong understanding of fundamental Linux concepts—including filesystems, networking, processes, and system architecture—is particularly valuable.

You do not need to have experience in every area listed above.

What matters most is the ability to learn rapidly, solve difficult problems, operate across technical boundaries, and demonstrate a history of exceptional achievement.

Academic & Intellectual Profile:

Masters, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or another rigorous STEM discipline is welcome.

We are particularly interested in individuals who have demonstrated:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving ability
  • Strong systems intuition
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Technical versatility
  • A bias toward solving difficult problems
  • The ability to operate independently in complex environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Why This Opportunity Is Different:

At this level, infrastructure is not simply supporting the research; it is part of the research platform itself.

You will have the opportunity to work with computing systems operating at a scale and level of specialization rarely encountered in industry, while contributing to computational approaches aimed at understanding biologically and pharmaceutically significant molecules and advancing drug discovery.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $250,000–$800,000 annual base salary
  • Sign-on bonus
  • Year-end bonus
  • Generous benefits
  • Relocation assistance
  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days in the New York City office / 2 days remote

Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, technical depth, educational background, and overall qualifications.

If you are an exceptional systems engineer who wants to work on infrastructure operating at the intersection of supercomputing, AI, distributed systems, and scientific discovery, we want to hear from you.
