Business Systems Analyst
Location: Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA, or Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
To be considered: Candidates must have Direct experience supporting mortgage lending processes and a loan origination system (LOS) and knowledge of LOS workflows and the mortgage loan lifecycle.
Role Overview
An opportunity is available for two senior Business Systems Analysts to support a Customer Operations Enablement team and its mortgage technology platforms. This role involves supporting existing mortgage systems while preparing for planned technology upgrades and future-state enhancements. The position is a 6-month contract-to-hire engagement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a Business Systems Analyst supporting mortgage applications, with a primary focus on the Empower loan origination system (LOS) and Blend point-of-sale (POS) platform.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements for enhancements, upgrades, new initiatives, and production support needs.
  • Translate business requests into solution designs and collaborate with product owners and delivery teams through development and implementation.
  • Create standard Agile BA deliverables, including user stories, business requirements documents, acceptance criteria, workflows, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide Level 2 production support for mortgage system issues, troubleshoot escalated incidents, and route unresolved defects to Level 3 or vendor support.
  • Plan and support user acceptance testing (UAT) and related validation activities for system changes.
  • Partner with product owners, business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors to maintain platform stability.
  • Contribute to shifting the team toward proactive system enhancement and modernization while supporting the existing customized environment.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of overall experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst.
  • Direct experience supporting mortgage lending processes and a loan origination system (LOS).
  • Knowledge of LOS workflows and the mortgage loan lifecycle.
  • Experience gathering requirements, producing user stories and acceptance criteria, documenting solutions, and working in Agile delivery teams.
  • Hands-on experience with production support, issue analysis, troubleshooting, and ticket management in Jira or a comparable tool.
  • Experience with UAT and testing support.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule, with three days onsite per week at an approved hub location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Empower LOS.
  • Experience with Blend POS, particularly supporting home equity or HELOC intake workflows.
  • Experience with comparable mortgage LOS platforms such as Encompass, Blue Sage, or NetOxygen.
  • Experience with a comparable mortgage POS platform, such as nCino.
  • Background in banking or financial services.
Work Environment
The role is part of an expanding Business Analyst team that supports mortgage system enhancements, upgrades, and platform operations. The team collaborates with approximately 6-7 product owners. Upcoming work includes planned technology upgrades and a growing pipeline of system enhancements.
