Job Description

Sales Development Executive
Our successful and diverse client based on the east side of Telford, is looking for a full-time permanent sales development executive to help strengthen the team. You will be working with public sector organisations and manufacturers across a range of industries to help fact find, collate information and find solutions. Our client is looking for a confident communicator with existing B2B prospecting experience and the ambition to progress into business development.

You will be taking ownership of customer relationships and the sales process as your skills develop and the business grows. Your role will mean that you conduct regular outbound telephone and email outreach to public sector managers, including NHS estates and capital projects teams, and manufacturers. Our approach is consultative and discovery led. You'll understand existing arrangements, explore specific challenges and establish whether we can help before discussing products. You'll listen carefully and adapt your questions rather than rely on a fixed script.

Your goal is to identify opportunities that warrant a meeting with our Business Development Manager. General interest alone isn't enough: where further discovery or information is needed, you'll retain ownership and follow up. Once qualified, you'll book the meeting and provide a clear handover. The Business Development Manager will lead further discovery and closing. Key responsibilities

  • Research organisations, identify relevant decision makers and navigate gatekeepers professionally.
  • Explore current locking arrangements, maintenance challenges and upcoming projects.
  • Establish a specific need, the stakeholders involved and a clear purpose before booking a meeting.
  • Record accurate discovery notes, contact details and agreed actions in HubSpot.
  • Send relevant information and manage follow-up with prospects not yet ready for a meeting.
  • Work with business development and marketing to improve outreach and lead quality. Who we're looking for Essential
  • Existing B2B experience in outbound sales, lead generation, appointment setting or comparable prospecting.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including confident telephone conversations, professional emails and useful handover notes.
  • Experience reaching decision makers, navigating gatekeepers and handling initial resistance calmly.
  • Ambition to develop your sales career, with a willingness to receive coaching and apply feedback.
  • Curiosity and adaptability, asking thoughtful questions and responding naturally to answers.
  • Resilience, organisation and consistency in outbound activity and follow-up. Desirable
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or a similar CRM.
  • Experience conducting discovery and qualifying opportunities.
  • Experience working with public sector organisations or manufacturers.
  • You don't need experience with our products; training will be provided.
You will have access to existing contact lists and email outreach workflows. You'll work closely with our Business Development Manager, who has developed many manufacturer relationships. They'll provide product training, a discovery and qualification framework, and regular coaching to support your development.
