Senior MuleSoft Developer
Location: Remote – USA
Preferred Time Zone: EST / PST
Experience: 7+ Years overall, with strong MuleSoft experience
Employment Type: 6+ months Contract
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior MuleSoft Developer with deep hands-on expertise in Mule ESB, Anypoint Platform, API-led integrations, and modern MuleSoft capabilities.
This is a senior, client-facing position requiring someone who can independently understand complex integration requirements, design scalable solutions, drive technical discussions, and communicate effectively with business stakeholders, architects, and client engineering teams.
The ideal candidate should combine strong MuleSoft engineering expertise with excellent client communication, ownership, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise integrations using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and Mule Runtime.
  • Build scalable REST/SOAP APIs, integrations, and microservices using MuleSoft.
  • Design solutions following API-led connectivity principles using System, Process, and Experience APIs.
  • Develop complex integrations across SaaS applications, enterprise platforms, databases, APIs, and cloud services.
  • Work extensively with Anypoint Studio, API Manager, Runtime Manager, Design Center, Exchange, and Anypoint Monitoring.
  • Develop transformation and integration logic using DataWeave 2.x.
  • Implement robust error handling, logging, security, monitoring, retry, and exception-management frameworks.
  • Work with CloudHub / CloudHub 2.0 and modern MuleSoft deployment architectures.
  • Participate in integration architecture discussions covering scalability, performance, security, and reusability.
  • Troubleshoot complex production integration and API performance issues.
  • Drive technical discussions directly with client stakeholders and translate business requirements into integration solutions.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned integrations with minimal supervision.
Required Skills
  • Strong hands-on experience with Mule ESB / Mule Runtime 4.x.
  • Extensive experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
  • Strong expertise in API-led connectivity and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Advanced DataWeave 2.x development experience.
  • Strong experience building REST and SOAP APIs.
  • Experience with RAML / OpenAPI specifications and API lifecycle management.
  • Experience with CloudHub / CloudHub 2.0 and MuleSoft deployment/runtime management.
  • Strong understanding of API security, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/mTLS and API policies.
  • Experience integrating MuleSoft with enterprise applications, databases, messaging platforms, and cloud services.
  • Experience with asynchronoevent-driven integrations using technologies such as Kafka, JMS, Anypoint MQ, or similar messaging platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD and automated MuleSoft deployment processes.
  • Strong understanding of integration performance optimization, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
Modern MuleSoft Experience – Highly Preferred
Exposure to newer MuleSoft capabilities such as:
  • Anypoint Code Builder
  • CloudHub 2.0
  • Anypoint Flex Gateway
  • Anypoint API Governance
  • Anypoint Monitoring / Observability
  • Anypoint MQ
  • MuleSoft Composer
  • MuleSoft RPA / automation capabilities
  • MuleSoft Intelligent Document Processing (IDP)
  • MuleSoft AI / Agent-oriented integrations and APIs
  • Integration of enterprise applications with AI/LLM services and APIs
Candidates do not need expertise across every area, but should demonstrate that they have remained current with the evolving MuleSoft ecosystem.
Client-Facing & Leadership Expectations
This is a highly client-facing senior position. The candidate must have:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience interacting directly with US-based clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead technical discovery and integration-design discussions.
  • Ability to explain complex integration concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership and ability to operate independently.
  • Ability to challenge requirements constructively and recommend better technical approaches where appropriate.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills.
