Job Description:
Fleet Operations - Instructional Designer
Location: Hayward, California (On-site)
Role Overview
We are seeking a senior-level Instructional Designer to support our technical training programs. As our organization prepares for scale, this position will be instrumental in building a mature training system that ensures safety, quality, and compliance across manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate is a master of technical translation, capable of converting dense documentation and standard operating procedures into engaging, competency-based learning experiences. This professional will design a comprehensive ecosystem bridging the gap between virtual content and practical, hands-on qualification within industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop a structured curriculum for manufacturing and logistics teams, including virtual, instructor-led, and on-the-job training certification frameworks.
  • Utilize modern e-learning development suites to create virtual modules adhering to instructional design best practices and accessibility standards.
  • Partner with Subject Matter Experts and technical writers to translate complex work instructions into digestible, interactive materials.
  • Create robust, criteria-based assessments and practical qualification checklists to verify competency and ensure knowledge retention.
  • Define and standardize on-the-job training processes, ensuring a seamless transition from virtual learning to supervised practical application.
  • Support the management, organization, and optimization of the enterprise Learning Management System.
Required Qualifications
Education: A professional certificate or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
Experience: 5 to 7 years of instructional design experience, specifically within a technical, industrial, or highly regulated environment.
Technical Skills: Expert-level proficiency with Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline), Google Workspace, and enterprise-grade Learning Management Systems such as Docebo. Strong technical translation capabilities are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior training development experience within autonomous vehicles, high-tech manufacturing, aviation, medical devices, or automotive production.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills to work effectively across functions in a fast-paced environment.
