Application Tester
Location: Washington, District of Columbia (Hybrid)
Role Overview
This organization is seeking a motivated and customer-oriented Application Tester to join our team in Washington, DC. The selected professional will support and develop Java-based applications alongside .NET and MQ messaging. This role is highly suited for individuals proficient in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and the supporting software necessary to perform change management. The professional will test various scenarios within multiple applications, document the results, and work closely with other teams to facilitate the program SDLC.
Key Responsibilities

• Plan and develop functional test plans for all phases of testing.
• Design, execute, and maintain automated and manual test scripts.
• Generate test data and validate data accuracy.
• Execute regression, functional, load, and system testing.
• Verify testing results and produce test summaries and defect reports.
• Identify defects and requirement discrepancies, and generate defect change requests.
• Determine test objectives and standards by reviewing customer requirements.
• Conduct application testing of web-based systems and document artifacts.
• Verify and validate testing results by accessing and querying databases using MS Access or SQL.
• Participate in design reviews, analysis walkthroughs, and peer reviews.

Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's Degree is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of related application testing experience, including manual testing and scripting from scratch.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in manual testing with a transition toward automated testing tools such as Test Complete, Test Execute, Ready API, SOAP UI, and Jira. Strong SQL proficiency for backend database testing and querying is essential. Familiarity with Rational ClearQuest and Rational ClearCase is required.
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing automated scripts using advanced techniques and organizing them into test execution suites.
• Hands-on experience with Insomnia, Ready API, TOAD, and Data Studio.
• Familiarity with Java, .NET, and MQ messaging frameworks.
