Contract Opportunity | Architecture Documentation & Traceability Consultant | Remote – USA

We are currently hiring for an Architecture Documentation & Traceability Consultant for a remote contract opportunity in the USA.

We are seeking an experienced contractor to support architecture documentation and traceability for a business-critical custom entitlement, licensing and provisioning application landscape.

The consultant will create a clear product-centric view of the current landscape by analyzing existing documentation, source code, diagrams, test artifacts, and stakeholder knowledge.

The goal is to improve architecture transparency, establish traceability from product capabilities to engineering and testing artifacts to identify key risks, technical debt, and documentation gaps.

Develop a Product Breakdown Structure mapping capabilities, modules, features, and ownership.

Create a current-state architecture baseline covering applications, services, integrations, data objects, and responsibilities.

Document end-to-end system interactions, data flows, dependencies, and integration patterns.

Define a maintainable traceability approach linking capabilities to requirements, design, code, tests, defects, and validation evidence.

Product Breakdown Structure and capability map.

Application, component, integration, and data object inventory.

Context diagrams, integration maps, and data flow documentation.

Traceability model connecting product capabilities to engineering and validation artifacts.

Experience in solution, enterprise, or software architecture documentation.

Ability to analyze complex custom software landscapes across applications, integrations, data flows, and dependencies.

Experience creating system inventories, capability maps, architecture views, and traceability models.

Working knowledge of requirements, epics, user stories, repositories, test cases, defects, V-Model, and product breakdown structure.

Strong ability to identify risks, technical debt, documentation gaps, and improvement opportunities.

Clear communication skills with product, architecture, development, testing, and application ownership stakeholders.

Experience with PBS and solution architecture documentation

Optional: Familiarity with LeanIX

Experience using AI-assisted discovery or documentation techniques, such as source code analysis, Confluence mining, dependency discovery, or documentation gap analysis.
