About the role
Are you a C#/.NET developer who enjoys solving technical problems, working with data and supporting real-world applications?
I'm looking for a C# Developer to join a small, growing technical team in Stevenage. This is a varied role combining C# development, application support, testing and client-facing technical problem solving.
You wont be spending your days building front-end applications. Instead, youll work across data-driven solutions, production requests, troubleshooting, testing and client projects using a Microsoft technology stack as well as building new tools and functionality for clients.
Its a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of technical problems and wants to see the direct impact of their work.
What youll be doing

• Develop and maintain applications and solutions using C#/.NET
• Investigate and resolve technical issues through the application support helpdesk
• Work on client production requests and support the regular processing of data
• Test software, investigate bugs and help ensure solutions are reliable before release
• Work with clients and third-party suppliers to resolve technical issues and deliver projects
• Work with XML to process and manipulate data
• Use SQL Server to investigate data, understand relationships and write basic queries

What I'm looking forEssential

• Good commercial experience developing with C#/.NET
• Strong understanding of programming fundamentals and solving data-driven problems
• Experience working with XML
• Working knowledge of SQL Server including tables, relationships and basic queries
• Previous experience in providing support to paying clients
• Experience troubleshooting technical issues and working to deadlines
• A methodical approach to testing and problem solving with strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills and the ability to work directly with clients and suppliers to interpret & validate data, information and language

DesirableIt would be useful if you have experience with one or more of the following: XSL-FO, NoSQL, Data integration involving XML, XPath, CSV or positional files, JSON, ASP.NET MVC, Blazor, .NET Core, Service Layers, REST APIs, PDF layout / typography, LINQ to XML, large scale data processing systems and software development or testing methodologies. You dont need to have every desirable skill. I'm interested in people who have a strong core C#/.NET background and are comfortable learning new technologies.

The person I'm looking for:
This role would suit a developer who enjoys more than writing code. Youll be someone who likes understanding why something isn't working, investigating the underlying data, finding a solution and seeing it through to completion. Youll be comfortable switching between development, testing, support and client conversations, and happy working as part of a small team where everyone has a voice.
If youre looking for a pure front-end or full-stack development role where most of your time is spent building new UI features, this probably wont be the right fit.
