Job Description

As Altra Federal Credit Union celebrates 95 years of serving members, we are looking for a detail-oriented Credit Analyst, Business Banking, to join our team. This position supports Relationship Managers with the analysis, origination, and ongoing monitoring of business loans while helping ensure commercial lending activities follow Altra's policies and applicable regulations.
As a Credit Analyst, you will evaluate financial information, identify credit risks, prepare clear loan presentations, and help move business loan requests efficiently through the underwriting and approval process.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review initial business loan application packages and follow up for documentation or information needed to complete credit decisions and reviews.
  • Track outstanding loan applications and maintain accurate pipeline reporting.
  • Prepare loan files, credit memorandums, and loan presentations for underwriting, approval, the Member Business Lending Loan Committee, or Altra's Board.
  • Analyze financial statements and spread financial information using Altra's approved format.
  • Prepare annual reviews for business loan and significant deposit relationships.
  • Maintain financial information and loan-documentation tracking reports.
  • Process credit references, verify deposit balances, and report payment performance for appropriately submitted requests.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers and WBD to collect and review information for SBA and other government-guaranteed loan applications.
  • Support state and federal examinations and other audit activities.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a related field required. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 2+ years of banking experience required.
  • 1+ year of commercial banking experience preferred.
Skills & Abilities
  • A strong understanding of accounting concepts and financial statement analysis.
  • The ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and business loan documentation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage time effectively, and work independently.
  • A collaborative approach when working with business owners, members, Relationship Managers, and employees across the credit union.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and lending software.
Availability
  • This position is 40- hours a week, Monday through Friday.
  • Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Some flexibility within these hours may be available as needed
Work Environment
  • This position is located at Altra's Business Banking Building in Onalaska, WI
  • However, work from home / remote opportunities can be considered for those candidates who live within Altra's approved remote states: CO, FL, GA, IA, MI, MN, NJ, NC, TN, TX, and WI.
