SQL Developer/SQL Database Engineer

Role: SQL Database Engineer/ Database Design Engineer - W2/1099 

Location: Phoenix, AZ - Fully Onsite – 5 Days/Week

This is a fully onsite role in Phoenix, AZ, requiring 5 days onsite per week. We are specifically targeting Junior to Mid-Level candidates with 3–5 years of experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Database Design Engineer to support database engineering, design, optimization, and data integration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL and relational database experience, along with hands-on knowledge of data modeling, performance tuning, ETL/ELT, and database security.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in database engineering, database design, data architecture, or a similar technical role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience designing relational database structures.
• Experience with data modeling for transactional and analytical systems.
• Hands-on experience with database performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of database security, backup/recovery, and change management practices.
• Experience supporting ETL/ELT processes, data migrations, and system integrations.
• Ability to document technical designs and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services, lending, fintech, or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data warehousing concepts.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or similar enterprise database platforms.
• Exposure to Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar work management tools.
• Experience supporting reporting, analytics, or business intelligence initiatives.
• Knowledge of data governance, audit readiness, and sensitive data handling best practices.
