Certain Advantage are working with a strong manufacturing company in the Manchester area. Due to increase of work, they have 2 x opportunities for experienced Quality Engineers with knowledge of aerospace/defense production standards and QMS/IMS frameworks.

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and pragmatic Quality Engineer to join our team in a multi-faceted role covering New Product Introduction (NPI), Product Inspection, and QMS Compliance/Auditing. The ideal candidate will be a degree-qualified or time-served Quality Engineer / Inspector with deep expertise in metallic manufacturing processes (machining and sheet metal) within high-precision aerospace and defense environments.

You will ensure manufactured items strictly conform to engineering drawings and specifications while driving continuous improvement, managing non-conformances, and supporting audit readiness across the manufacturing lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
New Product Introduction (NPI) & Launch Quality:

  • Compile and manage APQP and PFMEA files, structures, and launch documentation.
  • Compile, review, and assure First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in line with aerospace standards.

Product Inspection & Conformance:

  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, material specifications, and geometric tolerances to determine product conformance from raw material to finished product.
  • Utilize varied measurement and metrology equipment, including standard hand tools, CMM, and Keyence optical inspection systems.

Non-Conformance & Concessions:

  • Lead non-conformance management processes, MRB (Material Review Board) activities, and concession raising.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis to eliminate manufacturing waste and implement permanent corrective actions.

QMS, Audit & Compliance:

  • Maintain and support the Integrated Management System (IMS) / Quality Management System (QMS) structure.
  • Conduct internal and external audits to ensure adherence to strict aerospace, defense, and industry regulatory standards.
  • Maintain active 5S working standards and champion shop-floor safety protocols at all times.

Qualifications & Essential Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ proven Quality Engineering or Senior Inspector experience within a metallic manufacturing environment (precision machining, turned parts, or sheet metal fabrication).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of aerospace/defense production standards and QMS/IMS frameworks.
  • Time-served inspection capability utilizing hand tools, Keyence, CMM, and FAIR verification.
