Job Description:Quality Engineer (Permanent)
Location:Whetstone, Leicestershire
Salary:Starting from £50K per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to join our Technical Operations team. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving product quality, reducing defects and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and driving continuous improvement across our manufacturing processes.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, suppliers and customers, you will lead problem-solving activities and support the successful introduction of new and revised products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead 8D, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions to resolve quality issues.
- Monitor and improve Yield, COPQ and customer returns.
- Lead daily reject reviews and drive effective containment and corrective action.
- Manage APQP, FMEA, Control Plans and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities.
- Support NPI and ensure manufacturing processes meet quality and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct process audits and support compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100.
- Manage MSA, Gauge R&R and calibration requirements.
- Lead and support Continuous Improvement and Lean projects.
- Train and coach production teams on quality standards and problem-solving techniques.
- Work with suppliers and customers to resolve quality-related issues.
- Communicate quality performance, risks and improvement plans to key stakeholders.
Experienceand Attributes
An Engineering degree in a STEM subject, preferably Quality, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Manufacturing quality engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA and 8D.
- Experience with NPI and First Article Inspection.
- Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and ISO 9001; AS9100 is advantageous.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and technical report-writing skills.
- Confidence working with production teams, engineers, suppliers, customers and senior management.
- Good Microsoft Office skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Occasional travel to suppliers and customers will be required.
