About Us
CARIAN is a purpose-driven, woman-owned consulting and advisory firm dedicated exclusively to the power sector. We partner with leading electric and gas utilities to provide strategic advisory and disciplined execution across program management, business intelligence, and field execution oversight. Guided by integrity, trust, excellence, and accountability, our team helps deliver complex capital programs and build the resilient energy infrastructure that communities depend on.
Position Overview
The Facilities Construction Manager is responsible for the hands-on execution of utility facilities construction projects across operations centers, service yards, substations, and office environments. This role owns day-to-day field delivery for small to mid-size capital projects including roofing, HVAC, painting, interior renovations, electrical upgrades, and site improvements.
This is not a high-rise or commercial development role. It is an execution-focused position for someone who understands operational environments, runs work safely, and delivers clean, on-time, on-budget facilities projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead day-to-day execution of utility facilities construction projects from kickoff through closeout.
Direct and oversee contractors and vendors with clear accountability for safety, schedule, cost, and quality.
Manage scopes such as roofing, HVAC, painting, interior renovations, electrical upgrades, and site work across active facilities.
Coordinate with utility operations teams to manage site access, outages, and ensure all facilities are safely restored to full operational condition after construction activities.
Maintain accurate schedules, budgets, field reporting, and project documentation, reflecting real-time changes in status and scope.
Review contractor pricing, change orders, and field conditions to protect cost discipline and avoid scope drift.
Support procurement and bid processes, including scope development, contractor selection, and vendor performance management.
Conduct site walks and inspections to verify quality, confirm compliance, and identify issues early.
Drive closeout deliverables including punch lists, turnover documentation, and final acceptance.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience leading facilities construction, utility facilities work, or operational infrastructure projects.
Proven ability to manage contractors, vendors, and field execution across multiple active sites or concurrent projects.
Strong working knowledge of construction fundamentals including scopes, schedules, budgets, RFIs, submittals, material procurement, and change orders.
Experience working in operational environments where safety, access control, and service continuity matter.
Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); able to produce clear field reporting and basic project tracking.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
Must be able to meet the company’s driving requirements.
