Job Summary:
The Procurement Manager will lead the organization's procurement strategy, with responsibility for strategic sourcing, supplier management, commercial negotiations, contract governance, and procurement operations. This role will focus on ensuring reliable supply, managing commercial and supply-chain risk, improving working-capital performance, and identifying sustainable cost-saving opportunities. The Procurement Manager will work closely with operations, finance, and senior leadership to support efficient and profitable business performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in mining, energy, manufacturing, or another heavy-industry environment and will have a demonstrated ability to manage complex procurement initiatives and high-value projects.
Key Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Procurement or strategic sourcing experience within mining, energy, manufacturing, construction, or another comparable heavy industry.
Experience supporting or managing projects with values exceeding $10 million.
Strong working knowledge of SAP and related procurement processes.
Experience managing complex supplier relationships, commercial agreements, and contracts.
A track record of delivering measurable cost savings and procurement improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead strategic sourcing, commercial negotiations, and contract management for critical goods and services.
Develop and execute category strategies that optimize cost, supply continuity, working capital, and operational performance.
Establish and manage strategic supplier relationships, including supplier performance, risk, and compliance.
Identify and deliver cost savings, standardization, and procurement-leverage opportunities across multiple operational sites.
Utilize analytics, market intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies to improve procurement effectiveness and decision-making.
Develop and implement strategies to mitigate supply-chain risk, including supplier diversification and inventory planning.
Oversee contract governance, pricing, vendor data, procurement controls, and delegated-authority requirements.
Partner with Finance, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and operational stakeholders to support cash-flow management and vendor-payment planning.
Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement and sourcing team while establishing a high-performance culture.
Own and continuously improve Source-to-Contract (S2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes.
Monitor procurement performance and communicate savings opportunities, supplier risks, market conditions, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
Significant experience in strategic sourcing, procure Source-to-Contract (S2C) ement, supply chain, commercial management, or a related leadership function.
Demonstrated success negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing critical supplier relationships.
Experience managing high-value procurement initiatives and projects, including projects exceeding $10 million.
Strong commercial, analytical, financial, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Working knowledge of SAP, P2P, S2C, contract-management systems, and other procurement technologies.
Familiarity with analytics, automation, AI, and technology-enabled procurement processes.
Demonstrated leadership ability with sound judgment in managing commercial, operational, and supply-chain risk.
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, finance, engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
Experience in mining, energy, manufacturing, construction, or another heavy-industry environment preferred.
Location & Travel
Based in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area, with regular travel to operational sites and occasional domestic travel to supplier facilities, industry events, and trade shows.
