Job Description

Position Overview

The Lead Business Systems Analyst serves as a senior-level advisor and liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams. This individual will lead requirements gathering, business process analysis, solution validation, user acceptance testing, and process improvement initiatives for enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, experience supporting large-scale system implementations or ERP environments, and the ability to engage stakeholders across multiple departments and levels of leadership.


Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements Management

  • Lead requirements elicitation sessions through interviews, workshops, process reviews, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Document and maintain business requirements, functional specifications, user stories, use cases, process flows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Analyze existing workflows and identify opportunities for automation, efficiency improvements, and system optimization.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for technical teams.

Stakeholder Engagement & Project Support

  • Partner with stakeholders across 40+ departments to understand operational requirements and business challenges.
  • Facilitate alignment and sign-off of project scope, requirements, and solution designs.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring business objectives remain central to solution development.
  • Communicate effectively with executives, managers, technical teams, and end users.

Solution Validation & Testing

  • Lead test planning activities, including test scenario development and execution.
  • Coordinate and support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Validate system functionality and confirm solutions meet documented business requirements.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve workflow, application, and process-related issues.

Process Improvement

  • Evaluate business processes and recommend best practices for improving efficiency and user experience.
  • Identify gaps between current and future-state processes.
  • Support organizational change efforts related to new system capabilities and enhancements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in business systems analysis, business process improvement, or enterprise software implementation.
  • Strong experience gathering, documenting, and managing complex business requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business processes, workflows, data structures, and system interactions.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications, integrations, or large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities while collaborating across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Time & Labor, Workforce Management, HRIS, ERP, or enterprise workforce systems.
  • Experience working within large, complex organizations with multiple business units or departments.
  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery methodologies.
  • Experience with enterprise software portfolios, ERP platforms, or large-scale integration projects.
  • Prior public-sector, municipal, government, higher education, healthcare, or similarly complex organizational experience is highly desirable.

Preferred Certifications

  • CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional)
  • Scrum Certifications (CSM, PSM, SAFe)
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent
