Kentro is seeking a Scrum Master III to support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Accelerated Transformation of Legacy Applications and Systems (ATLAS) program - one of the largest civilian IT modernization efforts in the federal government. ATLAS covers a mission-support portfolio of more than 200 applications and roughly 3,000 databases, moving the agency off legacy sustainment and onto cloud-native architectures, automated workflows, DevSecOps delivery, and integrated AI capability.
This role is responsible for leading multiple Agile teams and the transformation initiatives that change how delivery works across the program, applying expert command of scaled Agile, team dynamics, and organizational change. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience coaching multiple teams, implementing Agile at scale, driving measurable Agile maturity, and mentoring other Scrum Masters, and will bridge leadership, technical teams, and government stakeholders to establish the practices the program operates on and deliver accelerated value.
Location: Remote - This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.
Compensation Range: The pay range for this position is $119,000-141,000 annually. Kentro determines compensation by evaluating current government contracting and commercial market conditions, as well as the role's specific requirements. Final salary placement within this range will be based on the candidate's relevant skills, experience, education, certifications, location, and security clearance level, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Scrum Master for multiple Agile teams supporting FAA initiatives, coaching each toward improved flow, predictability, quality, and timely delivery of solutions.
• Facilitate agile ceremonies across teams, such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, system demos, retrospectives, etc.
• Lead Agile transformation and maturity initiatives across the program: assess current delivery practice, define the path to target maturity, and drive change through to adoption.
• Implement Agile at scale - program increment planning, cross-team coordination structures, and portfolio-level delivery visibility across multiple workstreams.
• Maintain delivery visibility across scope, schedule, risks, and dependencies across multiple efforts; coordinate cross-team dependencies, surface constraints, and report status to leadership without assuming product or resource ownership.
• Facilitate the identification and resolution of dependencies and risks across teams; help implement mitigation strategies and escalation as needed.
• Facilitate cross-team collaboration with architects, other Scrum Masters, product owners, and system teams to remove impediments that affect multiple teams and the Agile teams' flow.
• Mentor and develop other Scrum Masters on the program; build and lead a consistent Scrum Master community of practice.
• Establish and document program-level Agile practices - definition of done, estimation approach, backlog standards, ceremony cadence and norms - that hold consistently across teams.
• Drive continuous improvement through metrics and feedback loops, focusing on flow, quality, and customer value.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, product owners, engineers, and other teams to align on priorities and deliverables while preserving Product Owner accountability for backlog priority and product decisions.
• Drive Agile best practices, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement across teams.
• Facilitate team adoption of DevSecOps delivery practices, CI/CD flow, and Kanban/Scrum approaches to reduce bottlenecks, improve lead time, and make delivery constraints visible.
• Coach teams and individuals toward higher levels of performance, engagement, accountability, and ownership of commitments, applying an understanding of team dynamics and organizational change.
• Partner with program leadership to reconcile Agile delivery with federal program governance, reporting, and contract deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business, or other related discipline
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master, or SAFe Scrum Master
• 5-7 years of experience in Scrum Master, project management, or Agile delivery role leading software or platform delivery teams
• Demonstrated experience supporting multiple Agile teams simultaneously
• Demonstrated experience leading Agile transformation or maturity initiatives beyond a single team
• Experience facilitating Agile ceremonies in a distributed/remote environment
• Working knowledge of Agile tooling such as Jira, Confluence, etc.
• Expert understanding of Agile frameworks and scaled Agile (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale)
• Experience facilitating delivery of data, analytics, or software development projects
• Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrated practical experience coaching Agile teams, with a track record of improving team flow and performance
• Strong facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills; ability to lead without authority and influence across teams and stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience mentoring or developing other Scrum Masters or Agile practitioners
• Working knowledge of relevant metrics (flow metrics, lead time, cumulative flow, etc.) and how to interpret them to drive improvements
• Experience applying AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or comparable) to streamline backlog refinement, sprint reporting, and team documentation is strongly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with FAA or federal IT programs serving as a Scrum Master
• Advanced Agile certification such as A-CSM, CSP-SM, PSM II or III, SAFe SPC, SAFe RTE, or ICAgile ICP-ACC
• Experience serving as a Release Train Engineer or equivalent scaled-Agile coordinating role
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and tools is desirable
• Experience with large-scale programs or large solutions and coordinating work across multiple teams
• Experience on legacy modernization or application migration programs, where sequencing and dependency risk dominate
• Background in organizational change management, with formal training
• Prior Product Owner, business analyst, or hands-on technical experience

Clearance Requirement:

• Existing FAA suitability determination or transferable federal background investigation strongly preferred
