Job description

We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop and enhance software for advanced medical imaging systems. The role requires strong C/C++ capability, experience with embedded and hardware-connected software, and the ability to independently own technical work packages from design through integration, testing, documentation, and knowledge transfer.

Your role

Own embedded software work packages and deliver agreed outcomes with limited supervision.
Create and maintain detailed software designs, interface specifications, implementation plans, and associated engineering documentation.
Develop, enhance, and maintain Windows-based C/C++ software for embedded and hardware-interfacing applications.
Integrate software with electronics, PCBA, FPGA, embedded processors, peripheral devices, and low-level communication libraries.
Support signal-acquisition and data-conversion workflows used in medical imaging systems.
Develop or update manufacturing test software, inline test fixtures, diagnostic utilities, and automated test capability.
Perform software integration, debugging, defect resolution, root-cause analysis, and technical risk mitigation.
Ensure backward compatibility and controlled migration when hardware components or interfaces are replaced.
Collaborate with systems, electronics, FPGA, manufacturing, verification, quality, and program teams.
Provide concise status reporting covering progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, and recovery actions.
Prepare technical documentation, training material, walkthroughs, and structured knowledge-transfer sessions.

You're the right fit if

You have strong hands-on experience in embedded software development using C and C++.
You have developed software in a Windows environment and understand low-level hardware interaction.
You have experience integrating software with FPGA-based systems, embedded processors, device interfaces, or custom electronics.
You understand software architecture, multithreading, memory management, communication protocols, and performance-sensitive code.
You have experience with manufacturing test software, test fixtures, automated test systems, or diagnostic applications.
You can convert system requirements into detailed designs, implementation tasks, traceable outputs, and maintainable documentation.
You are comfortable debugging complex hardware-software integration issues using structured root-cause analysis.
You can independently plan and execute deliverables while working effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams.
You communicate clearly and can provide concise, fact-based technical and program updates.

Preferred experience

Experience developing software for ultrasound, intravascular imaging, diagnostic imaging, or other medical-device platforms.
Experience with low-level hardware abstraction layers, device libraries, drivers, FPGA interfaces, or embedded communication stacks.
Experience with Xilinx-based embedded environments or comparable FPGA/processor platforms.
Experience supporting ASIC or electronic-component obsolescence, component replacement, or product-continuity programs.
Experience in regulated medical-device software development, including design controls, traceability, verification, validation, and controlled documentation.
Familiarity with dependency/package-management tools such as Conan or comparable C/C++ build ecosystems.
Experience creating structured knowledge transfer plans for engineering teams.

Education and experience

Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Senior-level experience in embedded software, medical-device software, medical imaging, or a closely related product-engineering environment.
Demonstrated ownership of complex software modules or work packages from design through release and support.
