Quick Overview
Job Description
We're working with an established and growing consumer business to appoint an experienced Marketing Manager into a key position within its head office team.
About the Role
This is an opportunity for a commercially minded marketer who enjoys combining strategy with hands-on delivery. You'll take ownership of the wider marketing approach, working closely with senior leadership and internal teams to drive customer acquisition, conversion, retention and long-term growth across both digital and physical channels. This isn't a role where you'll simply inherit a marketing calendar and manage campaigns. You'll be expected to understand the commercial objectives of the business, build a clear marketing plan around them and make sure activity delivers measurable results.
The Role
You'll take responsibility for developing and delivering an effective, KPI-led marketing strategy across multiple customer channels. Working alongside ecommerce, operational and senior leadership teams, you'll be responsible for:
- Developing and delivering the overall marketing strategy and campaign calendar
- Translating commercial objectives into clear, measurable marketing plans
- Driving customer acquisition, conversion, retention and repeat business
- Overseeing activity across SEO, PPC/search, paid social, email, CRM and content
- Developing effective performance marketing strategies and monitoring ROI
- Using customer and performance data to identify new growth opportunities
- Developing CRM, retention and loyalty activity
- Ensuring a consistent brand and customer experience across digital and physical channels
- Supporting campaigns designed to increase both online conversion and physical customer footfall
- Working closely with ecommerce colleagues to ensure digital activity supports the wider commercial strategy
- Setting meaningful KPIs and regularly reporting performance to senior stakeholders
- Managing marketing budgets with a strong focus on commercial return
- Reviewing campaign performance and using findings to continuously improve future activity
- Working collaboratively across different areas of the business to ensure marketing activity is delivered effectively
Qualifications
- Around 5+ years of relevant marketing experience
- Experience at Marketing Manager, Senior Marketing Manager or a comparable level
Required Skills
- A strong B2C, retail, ecommerce or consumer-focused background
- Good knowledge of SEO, PPC, paid social, email marketing and CRM
- Experience using analytics and performance data to inform marketing decisions
- A strong understanding of customer acquisition, conversion and retention
- Experience developing and reporting against marketing KPIs
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of marketing ROI
- Experience managing or influencing marketing budgets
- The confidence to present plans, results and recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- A proactive, self-starting approach
- A willingness to remain hands-on rather than simply delegating execution
- Experience working across both ecommerce and physical customer channels would be particularly valuable.
- Previous experience within a mature-audience, age-restricted, regulated or advertising-restricted consumer sector would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working across both ecommerce and physical customer channels
- Previous experience within a mature-audience, age-restricted, regulated or advertising-restricted consumer sector
The Opportunity
You'll be joining an established business at an interesting stage of its growth, with genuine scope to influence how marketing is approached rather than simply executing an existing strategy. You'll have regular exposure to senior decision-makers and the autonomy to introduce ideas, improve existing activity and build a structured, measurable marketing approach.
This would suit somebody who enjoys being close to the commercial side of a business and wants to see the direct impact of their work. Candidates must be within a realistic daily commute of the South Yorkshire area and comfortable working from the company's head office on a full-time basis. If you're an experienced, commercially focused Marketing Manager looking for a position where you can genuinely influence the direction of an established consumer business, we'd be keen to hear from you.
