Job Description

A leading independent investment bank is seeking an Investment Banking Associate to join its highly active FinTech practice in New York. This team advises a broad range of financial technology, specialty finance, payments, lending, and diversified financial services clients on strategic M&A, capital raising, and other complex transactions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a banker looking to build deep sector expertise within FinTech and specialty finance while gaining significant exposure to live transactions, senior bankers, and client-facing responsibilities. The group offers a collaborative environment, strong deal flow, and meaningful opportunities for professional development and advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and manage M&A, strategic advisory, and capital raising transactions across the FinTech and broader financial services landscape.
  • Develop detailed financial models, valuation analyses, merger models, and transaction materials.
  • Lead the preparation of client presentations, marketing materials, management presentations, and board-level deliverables.
  • Conduct industry, company, and transaction-related research within FinTech, specialty finance, lending, payments, and other financial services verticals.
  • Coordinate due diligence processes and manage workstreams with clients, counterparties, legal advisors, and other transaction participants.
  • Mentor and oversee analysts while partnering closely with senior bankers throughout deal execution.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of investment banking experience.
  • Current Associate 1 or Associate 2, or Banker expected to be promoted to Associate in the near term.
  • Strong experience within FinTech, FIG, Specialty Finance, Financial Services, Payments, Lending, or diversified financial institutions coverage teams.
  • Prior transaction experience in M&A and strategic advisory assignments within financial services-related sectors.
  • Exceptional financial modeling, valuation, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented environment.
  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record.

Preferred Background

The ideal candidate will come from a leading investment banking platform with experience advising clients across:

  • FinTech
  • Specialty Finance
  • Payments
  • Lending & Consumer Finance
  • Financial Technology Infrastructure
  • Diversified Financial Services
  • Broader FIG / Financial Institutions Coverage

Candidates with exclusively asset management, insurance, real estate, energy, infrastructure, or unrelated sector experience are less likely to be a fit. The team is specifically seeking bankers with meaningful exposure to financial services and balance sheet-oriented business models.

Why This Opportunity?

  • Join a well-established and highly regarded FinTech advisory platform.
  • Work on complex, headline-making transactions across one of the fastest-growing areas of investment banking.
  • Gain direct exposure to senior bankers and management teams.
  • Take on significant responsibility in a lean, execution-focused environment.
  • Benefit from strong mentorship, career progression, and long-term growth opportunities.

This role is ideal for an ambitious investment banking professional looking to deepen their expertise in FinTech and specialty finance while accelerating their career at a premier advisory platform.
