Python Developer

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite per Week)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer with strong expertise in backend development, RESTful APIs, and data engineering solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Python, Apache Airflow/Astronomer, and Starburst/Trino, along with a solid understanding of SQL, relational databases, and distributed data access.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Python-based applications and services.

• Develop and support RESTful APIs and backend components.

• Build, monitor, and maintain data pipelines using Apache Airflow and/or Astronomer.

• Develop and optimize data access solutions using Starburst/Trino.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners, architects, and developers.

• Develop and execute unit tests and support integration and user acceptance testing.

• Troubleshoot application defects, pipeline failures, and performance issues.

• Optimize SQL queries and relational database operations.

• Participate in code reviews and Agile/Scrum ceremonies.

• Support application deployments and production issue resolution.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 3+ years of professional Python development experience.

• 2+ years of experience with Apache Airflow and/or Astronomer.

• 1+ year of hands-on experience with Starburst/Trino.

• 3+ years of experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.

• 3+ years of experience with SQL and relational databases.

• Experience with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.

• Experience with Git or other source control systems.

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

• Strong debugging, testing, and production support skills.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Must be able to work onsite 3 days per week in Charlotte, NC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Experience with Astronomer-managed Airflow environments.

• Experience integrating cloud data warehouses and lakehouse platforms.

• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and automated deployment pipelines.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with automated testing frameworks.

• Knowledge of software design patterns and object-oriented programming.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid role requiring 3 days onsite per week in Charlotte, NC.

This is a direct contract-to-hire opportunity. No sub-tier candidates.
