Senior UX/UI Researcher – Shop Team

Location: IL, Chicago ZIP Code: 60661

Work Model: Hybrid

Visa status: Any (no H1B Visas)

Work Model Details: 3 days in office

Shift: M-F, 8am - 5pm

About the Role:

We're looking for a Senior UX/UI Researcher to join our Shop Team. In this role, you'll lead research efforts that directly shape the user experience for our products. You'll work closely with designers, engineers, product owners, and leadership to define, test, and document the ideal user interface. This is a strategic position—not just executing research, but owning the UX vision and ensuring it's effectively handed off across teams.

What You'll Do:

  • Translate research and testing findings into prioritized, actionable recommendations for UI designs
  • Clarify user, customer, and business needs and turn them into concepts for compelling interactions
  • Plan and facilitate research using the right methodologies for each question
  • Integrate user research into product design and iterate on prototypes based on findings
  • Document key goals, themes, elements, and behaviors for downstream UI teams
  • Create shareable UX artifacts (journey maps, storyboards, user flows, etc.)
  • Define and document the overall UX strategy, including UI principles and guiding concepts
  • Prioritize research needs and maintain a backlog aligned with the product roadmap

What We're Looking For:

  • 8+ years of UX research experience, preferably in corporate or B2B environments
  • B.S. or higher in HCI, Human Factors, Psychology, or a UX-related field (or additional 2–3 years of experience)
  • Deep understanding of UI best practices, UI design, and graphic design theory
  • Proficiency in UI layout, spec, and prototyping tools
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Outstanding communication, organization, and data storytelling skills
  • Portfolio demonstrating expertise and ability to articulate your process
  • Empathy and adaptive thinking—you listen to learn and pivot with changing requirements

Nice to Have:

  • Project management experience

Work Environment:

Hybrid: in-office when needed; must be local and able to return full-time in office when asked
