Job description

About the Role

Turning Point Global Solutions (TurningPoint) is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to build and support mission-critical applications on a small, forward-deployed team serving a federal customer. In this role, you will leverage AI-assisted development tools to design, implement, test, debug, and document software while integrating advanced Generative AI capabilities into production systems. You will play a key role in ensuring all delivered applications meet strict federal standards for accessibility, security, compliance, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

Full-Stack & AI Engineering

  • Build and support full-stack applications, including accessible user interfaces, back-end APIs, database integrations, and workflow automations.
  • Develop interfaces that strictly adhere to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements.
  • Design and implement LLM integrations, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, vector search, and agentic workflows using Model Context Protocol (MCP) with human-in-the-loop (HITL) oversight.
  • Leverage approved AI-assisted development tools to design, write, refactor, debug, test, and document code.

Security, Testing & Evaluation (TEVV)

  • Critically review and validate AI-generated code for accuracy, security, maintainability, and compliance with project requirements and federal standards.
  • Apply secure development practices aligned with customer requirements, the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF).
  • Execute functional, performance, and adversarial testing (including prompt injection and jailbreak testing) and evaluate AI outputs for accuracy, hallucination, bias, and safety.

DevSecOps, MLOps & Operations

  • Build and maintain CI/CD and MLOps pipelines integrated with automated security scans and Test, Evaluation, Verification, and Validation (TEVV) gates.
  • Monitor production applications and AI capabilities, troubleshoot technical issues, and support incident response, system maintenance, and helpdesk escalations.
  • Collaborate within Agile sprints, participate in peer code and prompt reviews, and contribute to Responsible AI and compliance documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Core Experience: 5+ years of hands-on full-stack software development experience, including building and supporting production-grade applications.
  • Generative AI Experience: 1+ year of experience delivering Generative AI capabilities, such as LLM integrations, RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, or AI workflow orchestration.
  • Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, with hands-on experience in modern front-end frameworks (React or Angular), RESTful APIs, and both relational and NoSQL databases.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants to write, debug, refactor, test, and document software, paired with the ability to critically audit and validate AI-generated code.
  • Cloud & DevOps: Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), containerized deployments using Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and automated security scanning tools.
  • Quality & Compliance: Experience with automated testing, AI output evaluation, secure coding practices, and accessibility compliance (Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA).
  • AI Governance: Familiarity with LLM security risks, human-in-the-loop controls, and federal security and Responsible AI guidelines.
  • Development Practices: Proficiency with Git version control, peer code reviews, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Clearance & Eligibility: Ability to obtain a favorable federal background investigation and meet the customer's citizenship or work authorization requirements.
  • Location: Ability to work onsite in Washington, DC, three (3) days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software development experience, including prior work supporting federal agency programs.
  • Hands-on experience with Agentic AI / MCP tooling, AI red-teaming/security testing, federal Authority to Operate (ATO) documentation, and AWS Bedrock or Amazon SageMaker.
  • Industry-recognized Generative AI or Machine Learning certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure AI, Google Cloud, NVIDIA, or CAIP).
  • Active or prior favorably adjudicated federal government background investigation (e.g., Public Trust or Security Clearance).
