Database Migration Lead | Oracle, SQL Server & Cloud Modernization

Location: Hillsboro, Oregon or Santa Clara, California

Work Arrangement: Onsite, 5 days per week

Compensation: Market rate

I’m looking for an experienced Database Migration Lead to support a large-scale data center modernization program, leading end-to-end migrations of business-critical Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases across on-premises, data center and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead database migrations from initial assessment and planning through execution, validation, cutover and post-migration support.
• Develop migration strategies, wave plans, cutover schedules and rollback procedures.
• Work with Oracle and SQL Server databases across AWS, Azure, OCI and private cloud environments.
• Use migration tools including Oracle RMAN, Data Pump, Data Guard, GoldenGate, SQL Server Always On and AWS/Azure DMS.
• Ensure data integrity, minimize downtime and deliver zero-data-loss migrations.
• Optimize database performance and implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, network, security and business teams.

Required Experience

• 10+ years of Oracle and/or SQL Server DBA experience.
• 4+ years leading database migrations within data center or cloud modernization programs.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Oracle 12c/19c+, SQL Server 2016+ and database migration tools.
• Experience migrating large, business-critical, multi-terabyte databases.
• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL and scripting with PowerShell, Bash or Python.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery and infrastructure dependencies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS RDS, Azure SQL, OCI or Exadata Cloud.
• Heterogeneous database migrations, including Oracle to PostgreSQL or SQL Server.
• Database licensing, change management and formal cutover governance experience.
