Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Network Technician to join the Colorado Office of Information Technology (OIT) in Denver, CO. This role is responsible for hands-on network hardware installations, cabling, infrastructure maintenance, network troubleshooting, and security compliance to support state agency IT operations.

  • Client: State of Colorado – Office of Information Technology (OIT)
  • Location: Denver, CO 80203 (1575 Sherman Street)
  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid
  • Role Type: Contract (10/01/2026 – 06/30/2027)
  • Interview Process: Either Web Cam or In-Person
  • Residency Requirement: Candidates must be local to the Denver area and ready to work immediately (no relocation waiting period allowed).
  • Compliance & Background: Required background screening via Info Cubic (State/County/Federal criminal checks, SSN search, OFAC check) and mandatory Colorado Information Security Policy (CISP) training within 30 days of start.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hardware & Cabling Setup: Install, maintain, repair, and upgrade network hardware components, routers, switches, and network cabling infrastructure.
  • Network Configuration & Tuning: Assist with configuring network software, identifying performance bottlenecks, and optimizing network efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose, triage, and resolve local area network (LAN/WAN) issues, hardware faults, and connectivity disruptions.
  • Network Security & Compliance: Ensure network operations adhere to state cybersecurity standards (CISP) and access control policies.
  • Asset & Inventory Management: Log, track, and maintain accurate inventory records for network hardware and IT assets across facilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Hardware Support: 1–3 years of experience installing, maintaining, and repairing network hardware components and cabling infrastructure.
  • Asset Management: 1–3 years of experience managing IT hardware inventory and equipment tracking.
  • Diagnostic & Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting capabilities for identifying and resolving network performance bottlenecks and system failures.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Location: Must currently reside in or near Denver, CO with the ability to work hybrid onsite at 1575 Sherman Street.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Network Professional accreditation (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent).
