Job Title: Functional Analyst
Location:Albany, NY (Remote with occasional onsite travel)
Duration: 5 months(with potential for extension)
W2 Hourly Rate:$50/hour

Overview:
We are seeking a Functional Analyst who will support our NYS client on healthcare finance analysis and reporting initiatives. The consultant will analyze monthly hospital financial submissions, maintain financial models and reporting templates, and identify portfolio-level trends and risks. This role will develop executive-facing materials, research healthcare funding programs, and support client analysts through training and knowledge transfer.
Duties:
  • Analyze monthly hospital income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow submissions; identify financial trends, risks, variances, and performance drivers.
  • Maintain and improve financial reporting templates, and build Excel models for cash flow, scenario analysis, and variance reporting.
  • Develop executive-ready PowerPoint presentations summarizing hospital financial results and key findings.
  • Assist with dashboards and data visualizations that communicate portfolio financial performance.
  • Research Medicaid, Medicare, and state funding programs and contribute to healthcare finance and policy analyses.
  • Prepare monthly financial analyses and summaries, updated Excel models, presentations, dashboards, and funding research briefs as part of the project team.
  • Support client analyst enablement through training materials, office hours, one-on-one sessions, and refresher trainings.

Mandatory Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of financial analysis experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial statements and accounting fundamentals.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas, and data manipulation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint to prepare client-ready materials.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to present, train, and answer live questions from non-technical client stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience in hospital or healthcare finance.
  • Familiarity with Medicaid, Medicare, and other state or federal programs.
  • Experience supporting government or public-sector clients.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools such as Tableau.
Educational & Certification Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
