Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES
As a Senior Systems Engineer for Fleet Ballistic Missile Auxiliary and Training Systems, you'll be a member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing simulation and training systems that support the Fleet Ballistic Missile program.
Our team supports the tactical development and operation of Fire Control capabilities for the Ohio-class fleet and future Columbia-class submarines. We build systems that help engineering teams test Fire Control in lab environments and help prepare the fleet to operate new Fire Control capabilities before they are used aboard a submarine.
For Ohio-class systems, this includes capabilities such as the Weapon System Simulator and Training Stimulation System. For Columbia-class submarines, these capabilities come together in the Strategic Weapon Interface Simulator, which supports both system testing and fleet training.
In this role, you will contribute to systems engineering activities across the development life cycle, including requirements analysis, requirements management, functional and performance analysis, system design, trade studies, interface definition, integration, verification, troubleshooting, test execution, and technical documentation. You will work hands-on with systems in lab environments and collaborate across multiple technical disciplines to support mission-critical test and training capabilities.
You will also help plan technical subtasks, develop and review engineering work products, evaluate design alternatives, research system components and technical documentation, and identify, analyze, and resolve system design issues. This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys turning complex system behavior into clear requirements, testable designs, and reliable lab and training capabilities.
We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences:
- Experience with systems engineering life-cycle activities on complex technical systems.
- Experience with requirements analysis, requirements management, DOORS, MBSE, Cameo/MagicDraw, or system modeling tools.
- Experience with system design, interface definition, integration, verification, or trade studies.
- Experience with test development, test execution, troubleshooting, and test results reporting.
- Experience with networking, Linux environments, virtual machine management, or lab infrastructure.
- Exposure to cyber hardening techniques, secure system configuration, or system accreditation support.
- General IT skills, lab troubleshooting experience, or hardware/software systems integration experience.
- Ability to understand technical work products, coordinate across multiple disciplines, and communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions.
What sets you apart
- Very solid understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards.
- Strong ability to support requirements management, system design, integration, verification, and technical decision-making.
- Ability to apply system modeling or MBSE practices to clarify complex interfaces and system behavior.
- Creative thinker with the ability to grasp and apply new information quickly.
- Ability to plan technical work, manage increasing responsibility, and handle growing technical complexity.
- Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and contributes to team success.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly document technical information.
- Awareness of business objectives and the role of engineering in achieving program goals.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others.
- Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.
Our Commitment to You
