Coast Guard Academy LOCATION: New London, CT POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Contingent Upon Award CATEGORY: Information Technology Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our team at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting critical IT infrastructure and services.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain servers, networks, and systems infrastructure
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users
• Implement and configure software and hardware solutions
• Ensure system security, compliance, and data integrity
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project initiatives
• Monitor system performance and proactively address issues
• Maintain documentation and procedures for IT operations

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
• Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
• Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
• Certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent
• Experience with virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V)

Clearance Requirement:
Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance.
