JOB TITLE: Systems Administrator AGENCY SUPPORTED: U.S. Coast Guard Academy LOCATION: New London, CT POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Contingent Upon Award CATEGORY: Information Technology Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our team at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. This full-time position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting critical IT infrastructure and services. Responsibilities: * Manage and maintain servers, networks, and systems infrastructure
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users
* Implement and configure software and hardware solutions
* Ensure system security, compliance, and data integrity
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project initiatives
* Monitor system performance and proactively address issues
* Maintain documentation and procedures for IT operations
Required Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration
* Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems
* Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols
* Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash)
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
* Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
* Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
* Certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or equivalent
* Experience with virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V)
Clearance Requirement:
Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance. Benefits:
