Senior Business Analyst (Pharma )

Location: Cambridge, MA (Hybrid - 3 Days Onsite)
Duration: Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Business Analyst to act as a strategic liaison between scientific researchers, computational biologists, and data engineering teams. The ideal candidate will translate complex biological research workflows into technical requirements, user stories, process diagrams, and business capabilities that support advanced data platforms in the life sciences domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with biology, translational science, and technology teams to understand and document end-to-end research workflows.
  • Analyze current-state and future-state processes, identifying opportunities for optimization and automation.
  • Translate scientific and business requirements into epics, user stories, functional specifications, and workflow diagrams.
  • Manage Agile backlogs, participate in sprint planning, and work closely with platform and engineering leads.
  • Develop business process maps, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and user documentation.
  • Facilitate communication between scientific stakeholders and software engineering teams.
  • Support adoption of cloud-based analytics and data platforms across research organizations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Life Sciences, Information Technology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Technical Product Analyst within biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences environments.
  • Strong understanding of multi-omics technologies including:
    • Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq)
    • Spatial transcriptomics
    • Proteomics
    • Pathology and imaging workflows
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Proficiency in process mapping and diagramming tools including Visio, Lucidchart, or Draw.io.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Databricks, and Snowflake.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and scientific teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with scientific data platforms and research informatics environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and requirements gathering capabilities.
  • Ability to create business capability models and architecture documentation.
  • Experience supporting data ingestion, analytics, visualization, and data lifecycle management.
