Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Azure cloud services, and AI-assisted software engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience modernizing legacy enterprise applications, building scalable cloud-native solutions, and leveraging AI coding tools to accelerate software development and transformation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 15+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Proven experience delivering enterprise applications from design through production.

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.

• Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services and cloud-native application development.

• Experience modernizing legacy enterprise platforms, including COBOL, Mainframe, IBM i/AS400, or monolithic applications.

• Experience with large-scale enterprise implementation and transformation programs.

• Experience building high-volume transactional systems, including claims, payments, healthcare, financial services, or other mission-critical applications.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in complex environments.

Technical Skills

• Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.

• Microsoft Azure cloud services.

• Golang and/or Python.

• Databricks and MongoDB.

• Kubernetes, Docker, and containerization.

• API-first architecture and event-driven systems.

• React and modern web frameworks.

• CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps, and automated testing.

• Enterprise integration patterns and distributed systems.

• Performance optimization, scalability engineering, observability, and operational monitoring.

AI Engineering Expertise

• Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot Enterprise, OpenAI/Codex tools, Claude, or comparable AI development tools.

• Experience with autonomous coding agents and AI-assisted software development life cycle (SDLC) platforms.

• Ability to use AI tools for rapid prototyping, proof-of-concept development, and code generation.

• Experience with legacy code analysis, reverse engineering, code conversion, and modernization acceleration.

• Experience generating automated tests and technical documentation using AI.

• Ability to demonstrate measurable improvements in engineering productivity through AI-assisted development.

• Familiarity with agentic engineering workflows and AI-enabled application development using LLMs, RAG, and copilots.

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare, pharmacy benefit management (PBM), pharmacy claims, reimbursement, or payment processing experience.

• Mainframe-to-cloud migration or COBOL modernization experience.

• Experience optimizing large-scale batch-processing workloads.

• Knowledge of FinOps and cloud cost optimization.

• Familiarity with claims adjudication, pricing, reimbursement, and financial transaction platforms.

• Experience collaborating with Microsoft, enterprise technology teams, and large system integrators.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable cloud-native applications and services.

• Build and maintain Java-based APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.

• Lead modernization initiatives involving legacy platforms, COBOL, Mainframe, IBM i/AS400, and monolithic applications.

• Leverage AI coding agents and AI-assisted engineering practices to accelerate software delivery and legacy modernization.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders, Microsoft, vendors, and implementation partners to deliver enterprise transformation outcomes.

• Translate business requirements into technical designs and production-ready solutions.

• Drive architecture, code quality, performance, security, scalability, and engineering best practices while remaining hands-on.

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevSecOps practices, and operational monitoring.

• Mentor engineers and promote modern cloud engineering and AI-enabled development practices.
