Job Description

Salary: $74,000 - 114,000 per year
Requirements:
U.S. citizenship, an active Secret clearance, and availability for a full-time 1099 engagement and required client-site work in Rosslyn. At least five years of professional software or enterprise application development, including three or more years of hands-on Dynamics 365 Finance or Finance and Operations development delivering substantive finance functionality. Recent, strong X++ skills and experience with Visual Studio, the Finance and Operations framework, extensions, tables, forms, data entities, debugging, and performance troubleshooting.

Hands-on development experience with Power Apps, Dataverse, and Power Automate, as well as practical C#/.NET and JavaScript or TypeScript skills for relevant integrations or custom components. Experience designing relational data models and dependable API integrations, including validation, error handling, and reconciliation. Ability to deliver usable business applications and explain your own code, design choices, and user-experience improvements.

Experience supporting solutions from development through testing, deployment, and ongoing support, using source control and controlled release practices; strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Bachelors degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered, subject to contractual requirements.

Preferred: background in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, contract-cost analysis, other complex enterprise applications, or federal or Department of State work.

Preferred: experience with Power Apps Component Framework, React, prototyping tools, or advanced Microsoft application interfaces.

Preferred: Finance and Dataverse integrations, including assessment of virtual tables and other supported approaches in light of data ownership, permissions, and government-cloud constraints.

Preferred: Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Finance reporting, approved Azure integration services, or deployment pipelines in security-constrained environments; relevant Microsoft developer certifications.

Responsibilities

Review existing applications, code, data, and reference materials, then translate validated business needs into prototypes, data models, user stories, and testable acceptance criteria. Maintain traceability from requirements through implementation and testing, provide estimates, identify dependencies, and regularly demonstrate working software. Develop Dynamics 365 Finance components, including X++ business logic, tables, form extensions, classes, data entities, workspaces, workflows, and batch processes, using supported extension patterns.

Debug issues and improve queries and application performance; build connected Power Apps, Dataverse components, and Power Automate workflows when the approved design calls for them. Design intuitive navigation, role-based workspaces, data-entry forms, review queues, and drill-through views; validate prototypes with users and refine them for usability, accessibility, visual consistency, and clear application states.

Implement configurable reference data, protected approved baselines, controlled forecasts and snapshots, close and finalization processes, and planning-review workflows while preserving explanations and decision history. Test financial calculations and enforce validations and approval permissions in underlying business logic across screens, APIs, and imports.

Integrate data using supported entities, REST/OData APIs, approved connectors, and suitable batch or event patterns; create controlled imports and exports with identifiers, mapping, duplicate checks, reconciliation, exception visibility, and safe retries. Preserve data lineage and as-of dates, prevent writeback to external source systems, distinguish financial data types, and coordinate consistent measures and reports with Power BI developers. Use source control, code reviews, automated tests, and application lifecycle management across development, test, and production environments.

Implement security and governance controls with platform and security teams, and test integrations, calculations, permissions, accessibility, performance, and recovery. Support user acceptance testing and government release approval; coordinate technical designs and dependencies, review code quality, and resolve defects. Document configuration, integrations, deployment, monitoring, rollback or recovery, and support procedures; contribute to operating procedures, training, and knowledge transfer.

Support agreed fallback processes until retirement is authorized, and use approved development tools and data boundaries with human review and testing of generated code.
